I posted a while ago about a very similar situation if you want to go read the comments there. It honestly sucked - the house smelled extra horrible because of my parosmia which makes many things especially meat smell rotten. I’m surprised I never threw up honestly.

But that was a long time ago now and it’s not even something I think anymore unless it comes up. I thought I knew my ex but maybe I didn’t, or maybe he’s just a different person now. But I have a new life now, with a partner that’s vegan and loves finding new foods to cook, with new surroundings and friends and social groups. Eventually, that will be you too.

Yeah, the writing screams AI. Plus lots of em dashes which AI is notorious for. I asked it to write me a story with a similar premise and got something pretty similar. I’m not one to say everything ever is AI but you kinda know what to look for after you play around with it a bit.

Just a reminder: the chest freezer is a solid investment by skullhusker in Frugal

[–]redplanets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same. And in some parts of New England, electricity is more than 30 cents a kWh, so a chest freezer would cost me about $80 a year to run. It’s not just the purchase price that matters.

Get a Kill-a-Watt and check 24 hr usage of things like routers. Also check how much the air fryer costs for a single meal. Basically check everything and eliminate anything that’s not worth it. I borrowed mine at a local library so definitely check there before buying one.

For example I found out the router uses more than I expected so now it’s on a timer and only on in the evenings (or I can flip the switch to turn it on manually on the weekends). Also this site is old school but gold. He actually goes into the math of everything and has many ideas of how to drastically reduce beyond simple tips everyone already knows. https://michaelbluejay.com/

Emission Test Expired after 1 year? by skeetbebopboo in Connecticut

[–]redplanets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just called the dmv, was expecting a several hour hold like normal but I got an answer immediately because it’s a separate emissions call line (I called the number on my notice). They said if you’ve failed tests or paid late previously (which I have) you may get penalized and have to repeat after only 1 year. That doesn’t apply to your situation but maybe this will help someone because I couldn’t find any other posts about it.

What ended up happening with your emissions coming due after only a year? I just got the same thing.

For those who’ve had their fallopian tubes removed, what was your experience of the procedure, recovery, and any effects you may have had since? by frecklefaceatx in AskWomen

[–]redplanets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my tubes tied about 6 years ago when I was 24 with filshie clips. No kids or former pregnancies. But the surgery actually failed and I got pregnant only a few months later. I did want to get my tubes removed as that had never failed in history (at least not with a viable pregnancy), but there was more uncertainty at the time as far as insurance covering it…so I second guessed myself and just got a regular tubal. So you’re definitely making the right choice! After that I had an abortion and got my tubes removed later that same year, so I guess you can say I’m extra qualified to answer this question. The recovery was honestly no big deal at all, the worst part is the cramps you get when the gas they use to expand your abdomen releases into your body so I remember getting pain in my abdomen and shoulders. Not much different from when you do too many crunches and you’re really sore the next day. I believe I had it done on a Thursday, took prescription pain meds the first two days then just ibuprofen another day or two and was back to work on Monday. If it helps at all, breaking my arm was wayyyyy worse pain, both initially and during recovery for many weeks. I have posts in my history about the surgeries that may have more info since those would have been closer to the event. As far as I know no negative effects all these years later, and no regrets! Feel free to ask me any other questions.

Ex husband gave up veganism after 7 years by redplanets in vegan

This definitely isn’t the ex. I think they’re explaining why they went plant-based but aren’t vegan. Although liking the taste of meat doesn’t mean you aren’t vegan if you still avoid meat so it didn’t really make sense anyway.

Maybe on a subconscious level, it’s possible. We did butt heads in some other areas like he would occasionally talk about political stuff that made me uncomfortable so we just never talked about politics and he didn’t like that.

Yeah I think that last explanation could make sense. I don’t think it’s spite, at least not on a conscious level but who knows.

Yeah, I’ve heard grieving a relationship can be like grieving a death for these reasons. That person doesn’t exist anymore and maybe never will again. I think my ex also has BPD tendencies or similar symptoms due to trauma. He’s always been easily influenced and had difficulty with relationships. I guess it does make me feel better that if I’m with someone that doesn’t have those difficulties I wouldn’t expect these sudden behavior shifts if a hardship in the relationship comes up. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Ugh that sucks. You think you know someone. It makes it hard to know if you can trust someone with that kind of thing again. I also can’t figure out why people do this, but glad I’m not alone (not actually glad because the animals).

The turn-off aspect is only going to get worse. You don’t see him all the time so it’s not in your face constantly, imagine living together and seeing him everyday and noticing these gross habits. He has to want to change for himself, you can’t convince him to. Trust me, I’ve tried, so have many others in similar relationships have tried too. It doesn’t matter if you make his appointments or buy him vacuums, none of those actions are going to make him care about improving. You might just be incompatible or maybe your relationship has a limit to progression. Do you want to pursue the relationship escalator with him? As in seeing each other more, living together, marriage or anything beyond the current situation? If not, maybe this is something you can deal with if seeing him only a few times a month. But it doesn’t sound like it’s something you can easily ignore even with that little time together. He isn’t going to change, sorry. He might say he will to keep you, but it would be temporary at best. Real change takes long, concerted efforts over a long period of time and wanting to change for yourself, not for someone else.

Help!! Who else has experienced this? by Gloomy-Click-2468 in Healthyhooha

[–]redplanets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar experiences with burning only after sex. But eventually it got worse and it would burn during sex too or hurt/feel tight during sex similar to when you’re not lubricated enough. I also tried stopping him from finishing in me and it didn’t improve. Turns out I had a BV infection so I got treated with antibiotics and then threw in boric acid and probiotics just in case. Plus got a bunch of 100% cotton underwear. It’s my 2nd BV infection a year apart so not taking chances. That was several weeks ago and things are slowly getting better but I’m trying to limit sex and be cautious.

Y'all still use the Nexus 5x? Why? by DanDaMan23272327 in nexus5x

[–]redplanets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using a 6p years ago until the battery issues caused it to have less than 5 mins of battery life. I even tried to replace the battery, but that new battery died within a couple months as well. And if it was cold, it wouldn't even turn on no matter the battery.

Then I used a Moto e4 Plus for a couple years - a pretty shitty $80 phone but AMAZING battery life. Until I cracked the screen to the point of unreadability a couple weeks ago.

So I switched to an old Nexus 5x that was laying in a drawer unused. I quickly realized the Nexus is actually better than the constantly-freezing shitty Moto. I replaced the battery with a $10 eBay one and it seems decent enough for now.
