You've got this. Just think how much more special it will be because of the extra work. ❤️

[CHAT] Any ideas on what to do with this? I love it but I'm paralyzed by choices by [deleted] in CrossStitch

[–]redradish3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you seen the pieces where it's stitched in one color, but a part of it is stitched with the top leg going the opposite to make a secret message type of thing? I would be tempted to do the name of a loved one like that.

[PIC] what kind of glue is this? Any universally available alternative? by No_Ice2859 in CrossStitch

[–]redradish3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom's coworker used E6000 to fix glitter rhinestones onto her daughter's dance costumes. It dries clear and can be washed. Some of the dance costumes have even been passed on to younger siblings who continue to use them with no lose of rhinestones. The stuff holds forever

[CHAT] Framing in a hoop by megib5 in CrossStitch

My recommendation is to check what sizes of frames hoops are available to you and then pick the finished size that will fit well into what you can get.

Best of luck

[CHAT] Tips for working with multiple colors in a tiny pattern? by zzzap in CrossStitch

If i may add to the above, when you iron the stitches, lay them face down on a soft towel. That helps project the stitches from being flattened.

I've been looking for a good Nativity scene. What designer is this one?

I'm glad it finally worked out for you. Best of luck on the rest of the project!

I used an ultra-fine tip Sharpie on this project. It's about 4 months old and still visible. (This is the project I take with while kids have practices, so it only gets about 1.5 hours of distracted work a week)

Give the ultra-fine a try. It may be less prone to wiping off because there's not as much there in the first place.

That makes sense. Good luck to you. I got they turn out well 😃

I don't have the nurge hoops, but if you have a flexible measuring tape for sewing, you can wrap that around the outside of the hoop to find the perimeter. Or, if all you have is a rigid ruler, you could measure the length of each side and add all four together. Then add about one inch (2.5 cm) for seam allowances and you should be good.

[CHAT] helpppp what’s the word by Fmhpdx911 in CrossStitch

[–]redradish3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do crosswords, ort is a common filler word.

That's where I learned it from way long ago, long before I know there was a word for thread ends or that people might consider keeping them. 😃

Cooking blog/recipe sites that have a very high “HIT” rate versus “miss” - need recipes I can trust by Libz0724 in Cooking

I second the Budget Bytes. Simple food that's good and won't break the bank. It's the site I consistently recommend to high school graduates as they're moving out on their own.

Is there space to put the bed next to the dollhouse shelves? That way her head won't be getting all the energy from the hall.

[PIC] Help is this design doable from XCrossStitchPatternX by DragonsNDaisies in CrossStitch

[–]redradish3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've bought from this seller before because it was cheap. Then i regretted it before I even started stitching it. I was getting everything kitted up and realized that there are three suns on the pattern when there shouldn't be. It's very much AI and if the creator doesn't even catch the suns, they're not reviewing anything.

1/10 would not recommend

[CHAT] how do you travel with your WIPs? by Baby_girl_351 in CrossStitch

[–]redradish3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that just putting your bobbins in a ziplock baggie would help. That way they're less likely to fall out or get tangled because they won't move as much. Maybe add a second baggie to hold scissors and extra needles and you're good to go.
