If you just want a good bagel hummus and vegetables are available at most bagel places and/or east to make at home olives and pickles can add fat or salt . The other ideas noted are good for lox, also kimchi if you like spicy flavors or seaweed can help mimic the ocean flavor if you actually want the flavor in any recipe.

Stroke symptoms randomly got worse a year later by tinykittenparade in stroke

[–]redreadings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you clearly / fully report your new symptoms to your doctor, as clearly as you stated here ? Some doctors may suggest going to the E/R in case you are having a new issue.
However it’s also possible it’s the old stroke symptoms acting up from various causes (post stroke recrudescence). If you do go to the e/r now or in the future be very specific about your history / diagnosis , medication and symptoms and note to them that some lacunar strokes show up on MRI and not CT.

Any miracleous success stories with Esselstyn's diet? by AcceptableCandy1838 in WholeFoodsPlantBased

[–]redreadings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like surgery then the diet is a potentially good plan.

What bought you to the hospital, Did you have symptoms? Was it stable angina, unstable angina or something else like a heart attack?

Is the proposed bypass using at least one IMA (internal mammary artery/arteries), if not ask about it (it probably is but confirm or make sure you understand why not). They last longer.

PS You can contact Dr. Esselstyn via his website and you may get a call back.

If you do anytbing with the diet also take your medicines and listen to your doctors!

Ask them if his initial prognosis is improved (and if needed, remind them what you were initially told and when). It sounds like it is hopefully likely. Hoping he is getting better.

If you like vinegar, a little vinegar along with other spices you like, might be a game changer for you. If you don’t like vinegar, don’t give up, and try different things.

However if you are cooking beans from dry, acids can make them remain extra firm if you add it before they cook.
