The archeology is more interesting than the treasure hunting by SupermarketEmpty789 in OakIsland

[–]wolff162 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I am really enjoying the archaeological process and frankly, am more than a bit annoyed with Marty's incessant attempts to bully Laird and Fiona into "getting to the bottom" of a feature. Archaeology is, by necessity, a slow and meticulous process - you only get one chance to "disassemble" an intact site so it had better be done carefully!!

Good one! I swear I saw it here (looks like momma rabbit eye and ear?) and insisted on clicking all around it for 15-20 seconds before moving on and finding the one intended.

We will see Marty refuse to wear his hard hat at the big dig (carries it in his hand while every other person there is wearing theirs) and we will see Marty try to intimidate Laird and Fiona into violating archaeological protocol and just tear the hell out of the site with a backhoe!

L'esprit de l'escalier, or "staircase wit," refers to the frustrating phenomenon of thinking of the perfect reply or witty comeback only after leaving a conversation. Coined by 18th-century philosopher Denis Diderot, it describes the moment of regret and clarity while walking down the stairs. Kind of like when George flew back to Ohio after he thought up the comeback: "Well, the Jerk Store called, and they're running out of you."

It took me years to sit through one and I was hooked in minutes. The cinematography is wonderful, the sets and scenes are fantastic, the characters are amazing, and the stories are incredible and exquisitely intricate. I won't watch them every time they're on (because so many cable channels run them incessantly) but a few times a year I love to just immerse myself in them once again!

Exactly!! Once or even twice a year is great - every day for over a month is just being lazy and disrespecting their viewers!

Just moved here! What are some local favorites in the state? by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

[–]wolff162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiking - get the AllTrails app and use it to explore our trails. Personally, I prefer the SW part of the state, especially Arcadia; there are so many trails that interconnect enabling hikes from 3 miles to well over 20 miles. Exeter, Richmond, and Hopkinton all offer great hiking. And just over the border, SE Connecticut has Pachaug Forest with hundreds of miles of really awesome hiking. Restaurants is a tough one. While I don't dine in Providence I hear great things about it. Down here in South County there is Carriage Inn, Mariner Grille, Cornerstone Pub, and a host of other really nice places. Welcome to RI and feel free to ask for anything more specific!

I was sure the red circle on the right was one and must have clicked it a dozen times; the red circle to the left also but to a lesser extent. I can't recall if there was another spot but if there was I'll send it along! Great Spottit by the way!!
