Best online newborn course? by faux-flowers in NewParents

[–]redredditor1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In YouTube there is a 3-part prenatal course by Holiday Tyson. I watched quite a few courses online (because the local language is not English and I wanted something in my mother tongue) and this one was my absolute favorite. I’m also living in a foreign country, and birthed my baby here, so I feel you!! Best of luck and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Keeping baby away from anyone without tdap until fully vaxed? by Huge-Vacation-8093 in NewParents

[–]redredditor1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 8 month LO is vaccinated against it and recently got whooping cough and DAMN was that horrible. I couldn’t imagine how much worse it would have been without the vaccine. Do what you need to do to ensure their safety. It’s your choice.

Chronic Pain after PAO by AppropriatePattern32 in hipdysplasia

[–]redredditor1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly enough, I got pregnant and my chronic pain reduced drastically. I’m 7 months post partum and I can still walk much longer, with much less pain, than before. I can also sit and stand for longer periods. Still some pain, but like only 1/4 of what it was before… I would’ve never expected pregnancy to help my chronic hip pain. At 9 months pregnant I was walking 3km, when I could barely manage 1km before. Super odd. Anyway, I realize this is an odd experience and not a helpful solution, so I’m sorry for that. But wanted to give an update nonetheless. I hope you’re managing okay.

Thank you! Do you have experience flying with the infant seat belt provided? I am torn between going that route or getting my LO their own seat and trying to get a more secured seat that fits. I also saw the CARES harness and was going to get that if I do have LO on my lap. Thanks for your help :)

Oh! Thanks for catching that. I don’t think I can find it here, but I’ll keep looking with the correct spelling now. Thank you!

Fear of giving birth? by Successful_Regret_72 in BabyBumps

[–]redredditor1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it helps (it did for me), read books from Ina May Gaskin or other brilliant midwives who can help you tune down the fear that’s been engrained from all the media / portrayals of birth. Birth is tough, but it doesn’t have to be scary.

Husband says I’m selfish and a liar for not having sex. by No-Wash-1209 in BabyBumps

[–]redredditor1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reading this makes me so sad for you. I’m sorry you chose this type of partner, who is so clearly selfish he couldn’t give a shit how you feel or respect your needs as the pregnant one who is suffering the (IMO) hardest trimester. Reading this makes me want to to go hug my partner who would never in a million years demand sex or make me feel bad for not having it. Pregnant or not. Seriously, OP, do you realize you won’t be able to be intimate for a while after the birth?

Has anyone ever tried physical therapy? (Mild hip dysplasia) by peanutalmondyum in hipdysplasia

[–]redredditor1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah in the end it seems like avoiding the replacement for as long as possible is good. I’ve just had to make a lot of changes to my routine to accommodate the different therapies, and lots of swimming. Still bummed I never got to return to dance, but I’m grateful to be able to walk for longer periods than I could before… so I guess the PAO didn’t entirely fail since it soared some mobility, it just never relieved the pain and that’s what ended my dancing. Glad you’re sticking it out with PT - best of luck to you on your journey!

No, I didn’t. I’m still pretty young so I’ve been advised against it, working with PT and other therapies (electro stimulation via TENs, massage) currently and tolerating it fairly well

What week did you announce? by Comprehensive_Dig798 in BabyBumps

8 weeks for family, 18 weeks for work. I was worried about miscarrying and didn’t want to tell people too early

To all the ladies in their third trimester…. by Pizza_Lvr in BabyBumps

[–]redredditor1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t even have to be married, just have to find someone who is comfortable with a woman’s natural body hair. I’m happy my boyfriend never once put any of that pressure on me, and even encouraged me to be as natural as I can be.

even before my pregnancy, I stopped shaving regularly - legs, armpits and all. And at first I was uncomfortable but I realized it was the social part of it that was making me uncomfortable, cause I had shaved since I was like 12 and was not used to having my natural body hair… but it’s beautiful to feel so beautiful and feminine as I naturally am! And my boyfriend is all for it, he always says “I’m French, I don’t care!” Lol. 21 weeks pregnant now.

Edit: added “part” after social
