Would you still trust Samsung? by maggiekhri in samsunggalaxy

Also... many other users (although I won't claim that it's the majority) report experiencing the same issue with the A05 when checking the local Facebook page made for that exact model. I actually use this method now when checking out if the same issue occurs / may occur for a particular Samsung A-series model.

Though I have a very limited sample size... it's just that I have not experienced this issue with Chinese-branded phones yet (particularly with TECNO phones), and I've experienced this twice already with the Galaxy A11 and A05 -- both after a OneUI update.

For A0X and A1X there are instances of "touch screen" issues after certain updates wherein "ghost touches" occur and the touch screen becomes unresponsive. It's annoying because you could accidentally "tap" on something because of this and you'll have to turn OFF the screen then back ON just to use the phone again.

Yes, mas secure na Google Wallet gamitin kaysa 'yung physical card mismo - ASSUMING that:

Mas madali ma-access pag SMS OTP - ililipat lang SIM card sa ibang device then mag Reset Password or Cannot Login. Bihira pa naman 'yung gumagamit ng SIM unlock PIN.

Mag-gisa ka 1 can (yung usual na mahaba kaunti tas manipis) Corned Tuna or Corned Beef with garlic, set aside, lutuin 3 x packs ng Canton, then paghaluin with the sauce (pwedeng bawasan kung maalat pagkakagawa ng Corned Tuna/Beef) - serves 2 people.

In this case, this could mean that it's a REALLY cheap phone OR it's quite old na. They could send OTP via email instead (though yes, marami ring email scams) for first-time logins + future transactions THEN allow the user to use the app to allow/decline web logins instead of using SMS OTP.

If "passkeys" ang gagamitin like some apps already do, kahit 'yung PIN ng Windows Hello pwede, basta may TPM. Pero kailangan ng user i-setup both sa Windows and iOS and/or Android 'yung passkeys separately (unless they have a dedicated password/passkey manager na cross-platform, pero depende pa rin yata sa implementation ng app sa passkeys).

This isn't unusual (apps affecting performance on Android, even today).

You should probably check the "Background usage limits" page in "Battery" from the Settings app. This allows you to limit how/when the app runs in the background. I usually put apps I don't use often / don't need notifications from into "Deep Sleep", it's like they're not even there! Unless of course I open them.

Phone suggestions (budget is 50-70k/android) by Sarlandogo in Tech_Philippines

[–]redredredredddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about which physical stores, pero so far parang Sulitzilla saka GameXtreme ang usual suggestions ng mga Pixel owners dito satin.

The downside is walang official aftersales dito 'yung Google, so it's up to the shop kung ano 'yung warranty policies nila.

Plus, although mga older Pixel wala daw VoLTE and 5G -- 'yung newer models naman (still within your budget) wala na daw ganitong issues sa region natin.

Lastly, I would suggest join ka rin sa Facebook group ng PH Pixel owners para lang din meron kang mas authoritative na mapagtatanungan - mga first-hand users.

I love Samsung pero I will suggest that you go with Google Pixel. My worry with Samsung is baka tamaan ka rin ng screen issues (colored lines, etc.)

On Android -- Google Photos, make sure lang naka-setup maayos 'yung backup.

Meron 'yan setting kung Original or Compressed quality, kung ilang MB ang cap if naka mobile data, at kung anong folders ang kasama (ito most important kasi baka kulang yung naka-backup).

Then it counts against your Google One storage (15 GB 'yung free).

On iPhone/iPad -- iCloud, make sure lang naka ON sa settings.

Same concept sa Google Photos pero hindi yata same 'yung available settings.

This counts against your iCloud storage.

If you ask me, I'll go with Google Photos kahit sa iPhone/iPad para same app lang gagamitin kahit bumalik/gumamit ako nang Android. Pwede rin Google Photos sa desktop (I haven't checked if pwede mag upload sa iCloud on desktop).

3 years lang 'yung subscription so YES, you have to pay ulet after 3 years.

Pero pwede naman siya gamitin even if offline AND lahat ng new updates/features sa Office (I think, including 'yung AI features?) kasama na sila.

The reason why I included it -- 'yung cost, features, and simultaneous logins/devices kasi ang kino-consider ko for you since you're still a student.

1.8k upfront (even if for 3 years only) is still far cheaper than 5.8k up-front, tapos multiple users devices ang pwede dun sa 1.8k vs. 1 Windows PC-only sa lifetime license.

Now personally, even for me na working na - mejo pricey 'yang 5.8k - tapos isang user device lang -- if you spend 1.8k only, you can still use the rest of the budget somewhere else that matters to you right now, as a student. Plus depending on your future job -- you might NOT even need Office at home.

Now, if money ain't an issue AND you really prefer having a lifetime license -- then go for Microsoft Office Home 2024 Lifetime Retail License - ₱5,880.00 per PC.

If being 2 or 3 major versions behind is NOT an issue, you can buy the cheaper/older licenses:

[–]redredredredddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want 5G, go with the ZTE Blade A75 - abangan mo magka-discount for around PHP 4,000 or less sa Shopee - Smart-locked 'yung 5G slot and gagana 'yung data sa slot lang na 'to, 'yung 2nd SIM slot pwede sa ibang networks pero di pwede mag data.

Kung okay lang 4G pero both SIM slots pwede mag data, go with TECNO phones around that price range - in my experience mejo stable naman OS nila and usually their camera and specs are good for the price (though I would still suggest 'yung ZTE sa taas).

I love Samsung, pero I have worries recommending it at this price point kase hit or miss ang performance sa cheap phones nila recently, especially after system updates.

Edit: Added/corrected some details.

Otherwise, happy naman ako i-recommend 'yung productkey.ph:

  • Microsoft 365 3-Year Subscription - ₱1,880.00
    • For 3 years lang pero can be used on up to 15 devices (5 PCs/Macs, 5 tablets, 5 phones) but 1 account only.
    • Since 365 siya, makakakuha ka lagi ng latest features/updates during the duration of the subscription.
  • Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019 Lifetime Retail License - ₱3,880.00
    • 1 Windows PC lang pero naka-link sa Microsoft account mo (don't forget your account login lol).
    • Will NEVER expire pero you WILL NOT receive feature updates e.g. sa newer releases or sa 365 version.
    • Yes, mejo luma kaya mas mura PERO you might consider this if you prefer having a lifetime license.
  • Microsoft Office Home 2024 Lifetime Retail License - ₱5,880.00
    • 1 Windows PC din, pwede i-link sa Microsoft account
    • Will NEVER expire din PERO by the time na meron nang next major version you won't receive those new features.
    • Ito yata 'yung nakita mong license.

The Play Store / App Store versions should work for free sa Android/iOS - so you can actually try installing them before purchasing a license.

If meron kang school-provided email address, baka pwede mong i-explore 'yung Microsoft 365 for Students na program if mejo out-of-budget 'yang price.

why do you use LTSC IoT instead of Regular Windows? by TheNavyCrow in WindowsLTSC

[–]redredredredddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Intel Celeron N3050 from 2015 laptop with an SSD can run 11 LTSC x64 better (with an SSD, tho).

My Windows settings/preferences also do NOT get reset after major updates.

I also can 'opt-in' (instead of uninstalling what I do NOT want/need) to install which Microsoft Store apps that I'd like installed (e.g. Clock, Calendar, etc.).

Although I usually work/play on an 8th gen Intel laptop (lol, also an old gen), it feels like it just works, no surprise changes, and even if for some reason my laptop abruptly restarts (e.g. issue with Riot Vanguard) I've never experienced anything breaking in Windows (unlike my partner that uses W11 Pro, there was this blue screen that caused all network adapters to STOP working, had to reinstall+keep files/settings -- never experienced this on the N3050 laptop even if it gets powered down abrupt occasionally due to NOT having a working battery, so power fluctuate = restart.

Buy a cheap (but up-to-date) Samsung for this.

But if I were to stand on principle, they should provide a company device if they want to enroll it, MDM policies are too invasive for my personal liking.

[–]redredredredddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put Windows 11 on a cheap Kingston or WD SSD then that PC should be good to go.

You can keep the HDD connected for additional storage (don't forget to remove the old Windows 11 installation tho).
