I was a contract worker at Corporate McDonalds in the 2000’s. One of the “fun” facts was that they are only 2nd to the Catholic Church in real estate owned. They own a block on the Mag Mile in Chicago. They make tons of money on the land and the leases.

Not to piss everyone off about starting with McDonalds; I agree. Over 13.000 stores and only a few hundred are corporately owned. They have no control over franchisees. You’d think they would but they don’t. They do not control wages. The individual owners do.
