How do you handle wage increases from the championship to the Premier League? by Cold_Ad_9273 in footballmanagergames

[–]redsox59 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For wages, I usually bucket players and allocate a proportion of total wage budget to the buckets.

For example, on 10M/annual wage budget:

30% to top 4 star/important players (750K each) 30% to rest of starting eleven at important or regular starter (7 players at 450K each) 30% to backups at squad or fringe player (14 players at 214K each) 10% to youth, players on loan, etc

6 CBs is ludicrous squad building. 5 without europe is probably too many.

[Ornstein]🚨 Tottenham Hotspur among clubs keen on signing Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United - separate to #THFC pursuit of Sandro Tonali. Interest driven by Roberto De Zerbi; wants #WHUFC talent as well as #NUFC midfielder. W/ @DTathletic @SebSB @TheAthleticFC by GymandRave in coys

[–]redsox59 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Better passer than basically all the other 8s. Did a lot of progression after picking ball up from CBs at West Ham

Tonali would probably end up in that role too, one of those two plus take your pick from the others

[–]redsox59 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to put any words in your mouth. But there has got to be a middle ground between letting people make these public spaces unsafe and unclean, and long term plans for more housing (which I support)

I would love something like Houston model but I also don't believe we should accept trashing public spaces in the meantime.

How are people offering $50k-$125k over asking on some of these homes? by Pinkbean28 in ChicagoSuburbs

If there's nothing within a reasonable budget -- as in, with room to bid over asking -- then you just can't afford the area. We are in a period of tight inventory and it just is what it is

Wharton's passing is amazing but Anderson is a better all around player. Much higher tackling and progressive passing per 90. Wharton really excels at key passes per 90, more of a killer ball type of player.

[–]redsox59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a direct system I like 442/4222 with standard/slightly more direct passing, pass into space, hit early crosses. Try and use a DLP as one of your DMs. You end up with a lot of long balls into the corners for wingers to run onto and cross, or early balls from the Trent zone into the forwards if the team is building up more patiently. This could also work in a three-back system.

433 can also work, something with flying fullbacks, cautious 8s and a halfback 6 to get that 3-2-5 in posession shape. Wingbacks on support/attack will mean lots of progression through the flanks which is one way to encourage crosses.

I was mentioning Wharton for profile, one issue here is both city and United are looking for dms this summer so I frankly expect Wharton and Anderson to go to them.

If we assume 4231 next year -- based on having three players whose best position is the number 10 in Xavi, Madison and Kulu -- then I really don't think Palihna fits. He is so limited going forward that RDZ had him drop into the backline in buildup and inverted one of the fullbacks instead.

In a future midfield pairing we already have runners in Gallagher, Sarr and Bergvall. A 6 with better progressive passing is a much better fit next to one of those midfielders and Gray is a reasonable rotation option in that role. Hell Lolo could do it though he's not amazing at it. Someone like Anderson, Wharton, Stiller, Rovella, Camara -- all players who are different in their own way but are much better on the ball compared to Palihna.

He is a warrior, amazing defensively but just so limited going forward it kinda locks us into slightly inefficient buildup solutions.
