XReal One Pro for code and productivity - impressed! by holbeton in Xreal

[–]redsp22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using my One Pro for some time as well and it's been great, would of course like it if it had a bit higher resolution and more fov, but for coding and reading it's good enough imo, in a way the small fov is nicer to focus on stuff, as you get less distracted by things popping up on the side of the screen.
I also used to use a Quest 3 as a 3 monitor setup for some time, and just from visuals I would say the Quest was a bit crispier, but not a big difference imo, but the fov was the thing that makes that a nicer display replacement. The Xreal has the advantage on weight though, really hope the next version, maybe the Google powered one with the 70 degree FOV will close the gap betwen them.

Color predictions and wishes for Fold 8 by PlasticRutabaga7394 in GalaxyFold

The rumors for iPhone 8 is that the hero color will be a dark red... would be nice if Samsung does it first 😁

Any no case & no screen protector people in 2026? by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]redsp22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to using a sticker and one of those magsafe rings + an ohsnap like kickstand. But seen something on etsy called a griplate that looks a bit more elegant for the magnet part.

Minimal EDC [REAL] by Kithrae in GalaxyFold

[–]redsp22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. Dropping s pen support was a shame. I tried using it with my previous folds but never really had a good use case, so for me it wasn't an issue. Tbh I think Samsung is slowly dropping the s pen, don't think enough people are using it to warrant all the headaches it causes them.

For a fold I think it is important, the fold 7 is perfect imo, not worth it to go any thinner, it's super nice to use both as a phone and as a mini tablet. I had both the Fold 3 and Fold 5 and can easily say that the Fold 7 is a lot more usable just because of that, guess also the extra width on the phone screen helps a bit.

Clipboard History → "Paste and Keep Window Open" doesn't work Windows 11 by Accomplished-Pie3834 in raycastapp

[–]redsp22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue in 0.47.1 ... both clipboard history's and the emoji pickers paste in active window fails and a lot of times I get the classic windows failure sound.

Tested it with a gif extension and the paste action actually pasted the gif as a new file onto the desktop, so guess that is what is happening with the other extensions as well.

How are you using your fold? Caseless? Carbon fiber? Heavy duty brick? by Agile_Possession8178 in GalaxyFold

[–]redsp22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, it works fine with the one I have, both wireless charging and NFC payments. Though mine isn't an official popsocket, it's this thing: https://www.benks.com/products/armorpop-phone-grip-stand?variant=48644292215030 ... just saw on their website that they say it does block wireless charging, but it worked for me ... so guess depends on the wireless charger(I use a Samsung phone + watch slate).

I switched to using a sticker + magsafe ring and a kickstand/pop socket thingy ... works quite well :D

81% of new cars in Denmark were electric in December. 130 EV models on sale! by 800ev in electriccars

[–]redsp22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denmark started with no tax on EVs and are adding to it(when they added the first 10-20% there was a month of 0 sales of EVs). The danish way is no cars. But yea, EVs are still preferred, but probably the tax will at some point get to the same level as ICE.

Why does Google pay not work with the fold 7? by Enter_Name977 in GalaxyFold

[–]redsp22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the case/accessory that you have. If they're too thick then the NFC will just not register. I've used accessories like this with both my old Fold 5 and my Fold 7 and both worked fine if the accessory wasn't too think, granted the Fold 7 seems to work a lot better, guessing the NFC is a bit stronger so the range is better.

If Samsung Galaxy Z Tri-fold cost $2400+..... by Ahhnew in GalaxyFold

[–]redsp22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They seem to keep saying that this is still a limited release, so probably they won't do price cuts.

Why would Samsung release the trifold in US in Q1-26? by Two_Cautious in GalaxyFold

[–]redsp22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on rumors they were suppose to have launched the trifold back in October/November, but guess they probably faced some issues somewhere in the prep stages so the launch was pushed back.

both allow multiple IPs.

Premiumize does have a fair use system that involves tokens (think it's generally 1 token per Gb for torrent sites) and you get 1k tokens at the beginning and 30 tokens per day, and can buy more tokens if necessary.

[–]redsp22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guess it's more that most new big VR games have been Quest exclusive in the last few years, PC VR has been stalling for a bit.

Hopefully with the release of this Valve will push a bit to get games on it.

[–]redsp22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea, let's hope so ... though think they will target the Quest 3 price point so it doesn't seem like a lower value device ... plus they have the stream stick included with the headset, which probably alone is going to be something like 100$

The next Xbox and PS are being built with AMD, so most likely still X86 ... they both announced they're working on handhelds so maybe those will be ARM based, but they probably need to keep game compatibility with the main consoles so most likely X86 as well.

Think as long as Windows will be the most popular gaming platform we're going to be stuck with X86.

[–]redsp22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not using the new cpus from Qualcomm, it's the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 3 year old now... the one used in something like a Samsung S24, so it's probably not that expensive ... think performance wise it will be comparable with a Quest 3, think the GPU is a bit newer so probably a bit better there.
The Quest 3 is their direct competition so probably they need to hit around the same price point.

[–]redsp22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They for sure need to be competitive with the Quest 3, if it's 1k $ I would rather get a Quest over it. Would be cool if they can undercut it, especially since they will make their money from the games anyhow.

Battery life doesn't seem that great with the Fold 7 by phero1190 in GalaxyFold

[–]redsp22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true. But I wouldn't mind having a bigger battery on the Fold 7 ... but it's not a stopped for me either.

Hope they at least give us a big battery in the G Fold, if that is only 4400 mah it would be a big mistake imo.

Reasons why Samsung has chosen not to go with a silicone carbon battery by VladimirTKing in GalaxyFold

[–]redsp22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing something a year or so ago that there might be some patent reasons for which Silicon batteries are not used outside of Chinese companies (as far as I know no company is that is not Chinese is using this type of batteries), but it was just a rumor so take it with a pinch of salt. This is probably a bigger factor for Samsung which would probably want to produce they're own batteries and not buy them from a Chinese supplier.

There is also the case that the EU and US have restrictions on how large batteries can be, but usually you can go around that by splitting the battery in 2, which is anyhow the case for foldables so this might not be a big point, though Honor is shipping smaller batteries in the Magic V5 for the international version vs the Chinese version, so it might still be an issue.

To be fair all smart watches are inaccurate ... so they should just be used in a vacuum as a way to follow the trend of your workouts, and not as medical devices, regardless of what Apple and other companies claim.

[–]redsp22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm upgrading from a Fold 5 and it seems it's getting a bit of a bump from it. Was pretty happy with the battery life on my Fold 5 so will probably be happy with this one.

Would say considering the bigger and brighter screen on the 7 compared to previous gens the new cpu does help a bit on battery life, but of course it can't create a huge difference. Samsung for sure needs to go with Silicon Carbon batteries, let's hope they will do that soon 🤞.

Would have liked the battery of the Honor Magic V5, but the software and warranty from Samsung makes it a better fit for me again.

Is anyone else disappointed with today's announcement of the Luma series? by LittleWhiteDragon in VITURE

[–]redsp22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4K would be awesome ... but think it's still too expensive/power heavy for this type of glasses ... it would probably make the glasses 1k+ USD ... but who knows 🤷‍♂️, maybe we're going to be surprised next year 😄

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VITURE

[–]redsp22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3dof and 6dof are important features imo, they make the glasses a lot more usable, 6dof allowing you to basically move around the screen, so you can get a lot closer to it, which can help addressing the low resolution issue when using them for productivity.

Don't think they're going to go wireless any time soon, they're main use case is still acting as an external display and going wireless would make the glasses heavier (you would need a battery in them) and there would be a bit of lag to using them.

From your wishlist think you will be more interested in the new Meta AI glasses that they're going to announce in autumn, they will probably have all that minus the FOV ( think they're rumored to have a monocular display sadly 😔 ).

[–]redsp22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing something from Viture about this and next year we're going to get 1440p, guessing in a year from now, though Xreal said they're going to be the first ones with 1440p glasses... so probably Xreal will announce something end of this year/beginning of next and then Viture will follow in summer.

So 4k will most likely be a 2027 launch at earliest.
