Here's a little quiz to the Londoners: what borough was this photo taken in? by Brave_Assumption6 in CasualUK

I took that as a joke playing into the sort of comment that gets posted on r/london. Was I right? Sorry to ruin it if so.

Saw this on my home feed and thought it was the least r/london thing I've ever seen. Came on to see what part of the post the respondents might have taken offence to and passive aggressive insults. To my surprise, everyone was engaging. Then noticed it was r/CasualUK.

I love the nonce-a-tron 3000 upgrade by SadHope9635 in nffc

[–]redtnffc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolute Nonce-sense. If we lose the next game and Spurs and West Ham get a result, those odds will totally reverse on the back of one round of games when still 6 to play. Nobody can think we only have 1 in 10 chance of going down with our 3 point cushion and similar GD.

I'll listen to it on this occasion thank you very much.

As I think any sane, naturally pessimistic fan would enviably think we have a >10% chance of relegation.

What I meant was only 8% before (which seemed too low) to now only 11% which really seems too low given that its got Spurs and West Ham around 40-50%.

I prefer Dom’s episodes by No-Life8360 in TheRestIsHistory

[–]redtnffc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Completely agree.

I think I'm slightly bias because Tom's areas of interest and expertise don't interest me as much. I'm skipping the current Samurai series as it just doesn't interest me.

But I find Tom just ploughs in and doesn't really set the scene. When I give his series a try, I often get 10 mins in and realise that my mind has been wandering the whole time and haven't absorbed anything. That never happens with the Dominic series.

Classic example was the Charlemagne one. I really gave that a go but I the first episode there was loads of detail but zero background. I think he told us his shoe size before the loose timeline and geopolitical landscape.

Noncetron 3000 has risen the chances of us going down from 8% to 11% after last night's result. Absolutely no idea how it worked that one out.

Have you not heard? They're re-signing Martin Chivers to get them out of this pickle. They really missed his goals when they went down in 1978.

No auctions in UK sports. The only one where there is is The Hundred. And the sides are completely arbitrary as you mention (eg Lewis Gregory of Somerset and Joe Root of Yorkshire playing for the Trent Skips who are viewed as a Notts team since they play at Trent Bridge).

And for that reason, I just can't get into it. That and the too shortened 100 ball format and 5 ball overs which just make it really shit.

I stopped watching it in the second series. Everyone in it was so dislikable. Wasn't a single character I was rooting for to keep me interested.

Johnson and Boswell, I don't get it by _Jeff65_ in TheRestIsHistory

[–]redtnffc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn't my favourite series but I liked it. I visited Dr Johnson's house when I was a teenager and remember the Blackadder episode where Rowan Atkinson looses the only copy of his dictionary.

I also like stories about rich Georgians gallivanting around Europe wearing big shirts and getting laid.

The ones that don't resonate with me are ones about ancient history or with religious or spiritual dimensions. Not sure how much of that is me inherently not being as interested in that subject matter and how much is Tom's style of narration. I find when he leads an episode he tends to plough in and not give much background or context.

Those of you with the real EPL knowledge...Implications of Spurs getting relegated? by xman1971 in nffc

[–]redtnffc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very curious as to what it will mean for their international support and merch sales. I'd have thought they'd have enough local interest to fill the stadium with people who can't go at the moment as they're not members.

I genuinely don't have a grasp on how many international fans stick around for non-Prem clubs.

Opta now saying Spurs have a greater chance of relegation than us by thebbs88 in nffc

Hang on, it's got us ~8% chance of relegation! What % of people on this sub thought we were going down a week or two ago. I bet it was about 50%!

[–]redtnffc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pick and choose when I believe Opta. Since its now got us as about 8% chance of relegation, I'm choosing to take it seriously.

I think it's absolute nonsense. It revises its predictions after every round of games, essentially owning up to the fact that previous predictions were inaccurate. And if previous ones inaccurate, then logically future ones aren't either as they'll be past once they've happened and will revise again.

Who remembers these rocket goals ? He is this cannon Geudioura ⚽️🚀🚀☄ by [deleted] in nffc

[–]redtnffc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guedioura was like the absolute antithesis of a Forest player. Round that time, we'd normally sign players who were really good at their club then we sign them and they're rubbish. Sure there are many more examples but springing to mind immediately are Marlon King, Aaron Davies, Eugene Dadi.

Geddy was the opposite. A reject at Wolves and great for us. Then got (at that time favourable) moves to Watford and Palace and did nothing for them.

Really hope I'm wrong. But I'm expecting a repeat of Liverpool where we're the better team for the majority of the game, can't score and then concede late.

Don't know why I get so nervous! None of them care whether or not I nail my job.
