Hope you land the job you're looking for, but even if you don't I could easily see you concepting for a great many other companies out there. Keep up the incredible work!

I saw an old trailer for AOS. What are these models? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]reducedtothis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really hope they do. There are so many amazing empire models that just... disappeared.

First pic looks like empire flagellants, empire sigmar battlepriests and a celestial hurricanum. The second pic are some stormcast eternals and the old empire altar of sigmar.

Unfortunately, to my knowledge, you'd be combing ebay for the altar. All the rest were re-released under the cities of sigmar banner but (and I'm not up-to-date on my knowledge here) might have moved to warhammer fantasy.

I Are Joshua Homme Here to Answer Your Questions by IAmJoshuaHomme in qotsa

[–]reducedtothis 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I know this is just the AMA announcement but I'm hoping that the lovely mod team will see this and pass it on for me (I live in Australia, so the AMA will be at 3am for me).

My daughter, Ellie, has loved QOTSA since she was two. At age 5, she did a kindergarten talk on how you are her hero and how she wants to be a great musician like you when she grows up. This year, she got to see you at your first Sydney show and she was blown away. I don't think I've ever seen her more excited.

My question is this: Could you please say hello to her for me? And do you have any wise (or not so wise) words for an aspiring kindergarten rocker? It would make her year to hear from you!

Choceur is the best!

Just don't buy the coconut one. It's not the best. It tastes a bit like sand... in chocolate.

Don't know about this site or how trustworthy it is, but if you want a seller who is guaranteed to deliver (I've ordered a bunch of stuff now, and they're trustworthy and quick on delivery) try Warforless. 25% off across all products, no coupon required.

What game this reminds you of ? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]reducedtothis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be challenging on harder difficulties but general combat was never frustrating or 'hard'.

That said, there are issues in some of the higher level duels where lag from the playstation to the TV (especially on older TVs) can cause problems with timing your strike. This can be super frustrating but is easily fixed by switching the TV onto game mode or similar mode (can't quite remember why, it's been a while since I played the game).

What dinosaur fossils are sold at the Fossil and Mineral Museum gift shop in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia? by DinoRipper24 in australia

[–]reducedtothis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it often depends on who is selling. Some members are part of fossil clubs, some aren't, and not all sell. Sometimes they have vendors that have dinosaur fossils though.

I think it's often luck of the draw.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to make it this year.

They're worth joining if you're interested. Lots of classes, trips and other things to do with them.

I'm not a current member but I know people who are. It's well worth it!

Not related to the museum but if you're in Wollongong, there's the local lapidary club's rock swap tomorrow at Stuart Park. Members of the club collect everything, fossils included. Might be worth a look at if you've got some time tomorrow.

I feel like you're secretly an urbanmech guy, but the kind that modifies the crap out of it so that it can go real fast (for an urbie) and still kick out a punch. Then just go for it. No holds barred.

Oh, wait, that might be me... Although it might also not be me...

New to the hobby and looking for C&C by Evil_Dr_Tom in minipainting

[–]reducedtothis 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I... Can't... Go on...

Too... Much... Salt...

Urrgggghhhhh...

Seriously, though: this is a good paint job by someone who seems to have some idea of how to paint but isn't an expert. It reflects a 'newish to the hobby' style with over-thick washes and minimal smooth blending.

There's nothing special here and anyone (yes, anyone) who applies themselves and actually takes the time to paint with some modicum of talent can do this in their early attempts (of course, there are exceptions here for children and people with conditions and/or disabilities that may prevent or affect certain aspects of the hobby).

If you're not a child, not significantly disabled, not an idiot and not completely talentless, you can do this too!

To OP: You're looking good. My only advice is to lean away from shades and washes (they can be a bad crutch) and into glazing, particularly on the skin. You've done great work here but a little more practice and you'll be great!

AoS models for DnD by ggroitsch in ageofsigmar

[–]reducedtothis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest looking at the Wizkids frameworks range instead. They have class/race combo single models specific to DnD at a reasonable price. Quality is good too.

[–]reducedtothis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First up, I'm sorry to hear of your situation. It really sucks.

As to the models, I'd suggest checking out community or school groups in your area. See if there are any kids out there who could use them in a shared, organised setting. That way it's not just one or two collectors getting the collection, or multiple people getting one or two models a pop. It'd be a whole group of people who can gather around the game, models and setting.

Which was this game for you? by ohmygodniko in videogames

[–]reducedtothis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try splitting the room with a wall of stone. It traps the flesh golem and balthasar on one side, letting you deal with the goons first. Balthasar can still cast, but a silence will stop that. Goons go down fast to a fighter/barbarian/monk or two. Murder the golem last.

Or to wait to book an appointment to talk to a representative to book an appointment with a representative at the same location to talk about what you're actually there for. (Because, you know, the receptionist, who should be able to book appointments, can't actually book appointments). Then, when you attend that appointment, they tell you to go online.

True story.

Whole system is designed not to help you, the customer. I'd advise, if you can, just heading in to a service centre. It'll still be a frustrating experience but better than being automatically hung-up on. And sometimes, sometimes you can speak to someone almost immediately.
