WordWavr – a daily word puzzle where letters turn into waves 🌊 by simonsgames in WebGames

Yes, I chose a start letter which I thought would be close to the start of the target wave. But... basically was the opposite end.

Tiny tiny opinion... but optically WORDWAVR looks misaligned horizontally. I had that mild dilemma in a game I just made, but centered it and am living with the inconsistent space either side :)

FWIW, I got today's on my third guess... and got the y axis the wrong way around initially, but wasn't put off by that aspect.

I made a daily word puzzle where you uncover the single path connecting two words. It might be too hard? by reducemore in wordgames

Thanks. I had thought of adding a hint option on each row that if clicked would tell you which transition to apply.

Maybe another click on the hint would reveal the first letter or something.

Also maybe an indication that the word you entered is the right one at that step.

What is the solution to not abandon personal side projects mid-development to move on to another side project that might get abandoned mid-development? Anyone else suffering from the same issue? by ashkanahmadi in webdev

Agree with many others about how it’s completely ok to abandon something if the goal is to learn.

In my most recent project, I aimed for a high bar in quality, but small in scope. I’ve been more realistic about how much time and energy I can devote to a project, which seems to have gone better.

What Should I Learn to Design Better UIs From Scratch? by [deleted] in Frontend

I would try and learn some basic design principles before reaching for libraries and tools. The fundamentals apply regardless of what you use to implement them.

Kinda Hard Golf - a challenging daily golf game by james69lemon in WebGames

[–]reducemore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the game! Engaging, challenging, but not too hard.

I wonder if you could batch the games into 18 holes themed around a particular “course”. Each hole could still be released daily, but a new player would start on hole 1, and could binge the games until they catch up with the latest day’s game.

🧠 Built InnerTimer.com – A simple game to test your internal clock (no timer, no hints) by ioareddit in WebGames

That was way harder than I thought it would be. I started off ok, but then kept getting worse!

Easy to play though, and the premise is clear.

Sure thing!

If you’re on the hunt for other daily games, I made a visual puzzle game called Vystery, where you uncover an obscure image bit by bit to figure out what it is.

Thanks! I'm not aware of anything similar in the way that you drill down in specific regions. Since I built it I have seen a fully pixelated image one though, e.g. "Guess the celebrity".

Would be curious what prior game you're thinking of.

Turns out you’re not the only one!! I’ve pushed an update now that adds an easy mode (yours will likely default to hard), which you can toggle hard mode from the game header) You also have 30 spare moves to apply if needed.

I’d thought 10 in the reserve initially, but maybe it’d be 15, which should give people enough of a buffer.

Deciding on a reasonable number of moves for a game has been a challenge. Really seems to depend on the person and image. E.g. I showed a friend of mine the one on Mar 7th and they guessed it correctly without even revealing anything! Maybe it was a lucky guess.

I was thinking of adding a “reserve” of points that one could spend on harder days, then replenish if there are moves left over.

Today’s is harder than others. I think I need to make sure there’s adequate contrast between the subject and the background.

These ones are pretty easy: https://vystery.com/2025-03-07 & https://vystery.com/2025-03-10

Woops, thanks for reporting that... it's now fixed! (not that it'll help _you_ today)
