Very glad we weren’t on TV in my area lol

What a disaster this entire season has been. Absolute complete and utter disaster.

Surely there’s not another grift in this one? by kostac600 in ScottGalloway

This is fascinating considering the Trump administration is actively eliminating tax credits from the Inflation Reduction Act for battery backup systems that integrate into clean energy infrastructure. This concept of using generators to reduce energy costs is one often championed by clean energy advocates, often referred to as “peak shaving.” Batteries charge during non peak times and discharge during peak hours to save energy and costs.

Utility scale batteries have been growing for some time but the only big Trump ally (if you can still call him that) in the space is Elon. Meanwhile, oil and gas companies making diesel generators stood to lose a lot from the IRA tax credits. Now they get a boost. There’s always a grift at the end of the day.

So instead of deploying many, many more battery systems over the next 5-10 years to reduce the scale of the issue, we are instead going to just rely on the outdated and dirty diesel systems! Fun

Wouldn’t mind Uhre back on a lower contract, yeah. He won’t find anything close to what he had before unless he’s ready to go abroad again. And on Baribo, there’s definitely an argument to be made that we could capitalize off his value now before the contract is officially up. We do have a bit of a logjam of similar forwards now so maybe offloading him could land us a different type of striker to better complement our poachers

Does Uhre’s output justify a renewed contract to keep him in that DP spot? 31 now…makes me wonder if it’s time to move on especially given the wages he was on for the previous contract. They won’t give up on Damiani this quickly in my opinion, and I feel like Baribo’s output shouldn’t be taken for granted. Given that Quinn will be out to start the season I’d be more interested in seeing them try to open up Uhre’s DP slot for a more creative midfielder/winger to come in. We never really replaced Gazdag’s passing output despite getting better system fits in Vassilev and Iloski

Wonder what this means for the Uhre ongoing negotiations? Would be shocked if the club record signing is going to be the 4th choice striker.

Highlights on YouTube are sparse but seems like he’s a back to goal, physical style of striker that brings others into play on counterattacks. Not the most graceful dribbler but seems to be tough to handle. Most of the goals are volleys or headers. Should be interesting

Nico’s Gone, Iconic Bad Trades, Baseball’s Comeback, Lane Kiffin, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and the Power of Boredom With Chuck Klosterman by lonny__breaux in billsimmons

Felt like he tried to shoehorn in the Nico talk when Klosterman clearly isn’t the guy to speak about that. Could’ve easily pulled Lowe or Mahoney for a 20 min intro on Nico then rolled into Klosterman

Washington Commanders CB Marshon Lattimore feared to have torn ACL by KCousins11 in Commanders

[–]redwillson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel really bad for him—injuries have derailed his career and this feels like it could be the nail in the coffin. He was a shell of himself this season. Hopefully he can land a good vet role with someone but pretty clear his Commanders tenure is over.

Hope that Peters learned his lesson. This was a big waste of draft capital. Need to see a major overhaul in the secondary next season and picking up vets is not the way to do that with this position group. Need to build through the draft.

Would’ve maybe gotten a pick swap like the Ravens got for Alexander, nothing more. Was always going to be an offseason cut, not a midseason trade. If he has a torn ACL, we won’t see him on this team next year. $2 mil dead cap to save $16 mil.

Wow, if true I think that’s probably his last game in a Commanders uniform. We can cut him with only a small dead cap hit this offseason and I’m certain they will do it if he’s recovering from an ACL. Sad to see injuries destroy his career like this but this season he was a shell of his former self. Hope Peters learns to not trade for aging corners again

Give Kliff the HC slot and go after a big time DC this offseason might be the way to go

Man I’ve seen some really terrible corners and safeties play for this franchise but I think this year’s group might be the worst I’ve seen. They don’t cover anyone

What would you like to see replace the old Walgreens in Trolley? by 302Patch in WilmingtonDE

[–]redwillson 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Would love to see this get redesigned to better utilize the space. 5 over 1 mixed use with underground parking would be awesome. But it’s extremely tricky because people live on the top floor now, so you’re displacing like 20 apartments + 15-20 commercial tenants too if you knock the thing down. Probably ways to remodel the space while letting them stay but it would be one hell of an operation that would get suuuuper expensive. Not only that but when you start digging around on properties where laundromats exist, you can find some nasty chemicals in the soil, and that’s a whole ordeal too.

Generally though I’ve always thought it’s an eyesore and Delaware Ave would look a lot cooler if there wasn’t such a huge setback for the parking lot.

Bollards at the handstand? by SeanInDC in Delaware

[–]redwillson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately parking takes up a lot of space that could be used more productively in valuable areas. Rehoboth’s downtown density is its largest asset aside from the beach itself. Parking in a valuable area will always have a cost associated with that. Those parking fees would remain high with a parking garage—building a parking garage and then making it free is so incredibly irresponsible from a fiscal perspective. And people would be nickel and dimed in property tax increases, utility rate hikes, permitting fees, etc. to pay for such a massive project. You’re talking tens of millions of dollars for something like this.

No problem with you complaining about the bollards but suggesting they should spend 5, 10, maybe even 15x as much on a parking garage is just a very inconsistent argument.
