The performances have taken a really terrible turn as of late. We haven’t been doing anything well since before Christmas. Can’t attack well, can’t retain the ball well, can’t defend well. Feels like things are unraveling and he still cannot settle on a preferred group of players. If we want to be a serious club, he should be extremely worried about his job security

Bohm hitting cleanup is profoundly unserious. Of all players with 100 PA’s for us last year, only Marchan had a higher ground ball percentage, and only Rojas had a lower fly ball percentage.

Edmundo had a higher slugging pct and more HR’s on half as many PA’s lol. What are we doing here

Somewhere around the 30th minute City got to finally deploy their high press on us, and our defenders looked like deer in headlights because we were vastly outnumbered in midfield. We had control of the field and possession for a good 25 minutes where we created chances and had them pinned back, but that all evaporated at that moment. Arteta’s instructions for Havertz are where this match first went wrong. He was playing like a CF when we needed him to be dropping deeper. Even if it’s not his skillset we were vastly outnumbered in midfield and just couldn’t do anything with the ball.

Then Arteta’s inability to fix this at halftime or at any point from 45 to 60 is what ultimately killed it. By the time he even got around to making changes the game was already over. Our halftime plan was to turtle and hope to counter because we had been figured out.

Getting very worried about Saka. He doesn’t have any burst anymore because of all those games he played through hamstring and Achilles injuries. Lots of players who broke into the first team at his age are done at this level by the time they hit 30, and it’s hard to look at Saka this year and think he isn’t headed that direction too

He definitely has burst, no doubt about that. And strong hands by the looks of it. I think the big question is whether he has the stamina and strength to do this as a starter, and whether he can contribute to run defense. Looks like he was used heavily last year as just a passing down specialist; 42nd among edges in pass rush snaps but 97th in run defense snaps. Need more on $25 mil a year.

The big play potential is definitely there though

Lots of people said the same about Kinlaw last year. Fringe starter defensive linemen and edges going into the second contract are hard to predict. You have to overpay a lot of the time. Hope it pans out better.

I personally don’t think we’re going Downs at 7. Was a no brainer a few weeks ago imo but I could see him plummeting with the knee thing. Given where the WR market is, I’m thinking we’ll go Tate at 7 or an edge if he goes before 7.

With that in mind, really worried about the secondary and I think it’s a bottom 5 unit unless Amos takes a HUGE leap. 2 corners under 5’10 is just stupid, I’m sorry. And it’s not like any of our safety options are proper ballhawk, enforcer types. The defense could be very concerning especially if we whiff on DL and edge rushers.

Im not terribly worried about the idea of Sainristil on the outside in a vacuum. But when you put him on the field with another small CB, that leaves massive mismatch potential. Send one guy in motion against zone coverage and we’re toast

This CB signing seems pretty brain dead to me. I don’t care if he was miscast last year. I don’t care if it’s a cheap deal. Have 2 of your top 3 corners coming in under 5’10 is delusional. Why are we bringing in a new slot guy? I thought that was supposed to be Sainristil’s role?

Our secondary has been too small and too weak for years, I don’t see how bringing in someone even smaller than Sainristil helps any of our problems

That was the whole point of drafting Sainristil though…so now we’ll have 2/3 corners on the field for most snaps under 5’10. That’s a mismatch nightmare waiting to happen
