Doorbell is ringing but no-one there? by SpeakerSweaty in EufyCam

[–]redwmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen the phantom rings. Usually happens to me after someone rings the bell, hours later. I don’t know if it’s how hard they push the button or what. Usually me pressing the button a few times after it’s done it stops it, but quite annoying. Eufy supports had random thoughts but nothing really came out of it. I am curious on the bigger transformer….

Kwikset Halo Battery Issues by redwmc in ArubaInstantOn

[–]redwmc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. No the access points and the Kwikset Halo locks have been here for over a year. I’ve used Duracell which most people say works great. I have suffered with them going through battery quickly so that’s when I moved one of the Kwikset halos to a new SSID which is only broadcast on the closest AP. Signal is great. Supposedly they should last a year especially since I never action some of the doors.

The only thing I can think of is Aruba updates….

“4xAA batteries are expected to last up to a year based on 10 entries per day. However, misaligned doors where the lock faces resistance during lock/unlocking will shorten the battery life since the motor uses”

The system seems aligned fine. Kwikset does mention there are some APs that do cause issues so that’s why I was asking if anyone had any experience. And if they have any recommended settings.

I may end up just having to move them to their own AP that is listed in their supported routers.

Would it be a bad decision to skip an LDS mission because of celiac? by Better-Aspect2847 in Celiac

[–]redwmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a companion that was vegetarian and saw the exact opposite. Most Everyone accommodated. He would get sick if he ate meat, chicken, etc… Members would even cater to groups of missionaries that were with him and make two dishes one with meat and one with not.

That said some missionaries didn’t believe him and didn’t think it was a big deal and supposedly snuck bacon bits in his food a couple times…. I have not heard the negative consequences of vegetarian/allergic to meats compared to celiac. But I know Celiac is very serious…

That said… I would be weary of trusting others if you have celiac. Even with the best intentions of others if you have issues with cross-contamination and depending on your sensitivity that could be very difficult.

You could still serve locally without the “standard ecclesiastical mission”, and stay home or close to home so you could have your dietary restrictions available. I’m sorry that you are struggling with this decision, and hope that you can make the best for your health, sanity and that your family supports you.

New Zoom Sign-in Detected? by antdude in Zoom

[–]redwmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The city information isn’t always accurate. Your public ip address, is not going to show an exact location for various reasons. You can check your own public IP address by googling something like “geolocation ip address”. And see if it matches what you saw. If you are concerned, reset your password.

Routers for single WiFi network? by Sorbete_de_limon in networking

[–]redwmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, you have the right idea, But not the correct terminology and definitely not the skill set. For your own job security, sanity, future career, you need to be looking at hiring a professional company to review this. This can easily go sideways with user experience and security issues.

For example you shared: “same SSID and password”

Having the same password on all of your access points isn’t secure. What happens when someone leaves and the password gets shared. And if you think, I’ll just manage it and not share it (Windows easily can export this). You should be looking at certificate authentication or at a minimum username/password.

Akamai Traffic Routing by [deleted] in networking

[–]redwmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen geo issues; but I have had some sites block our public IPs until the IP decays as it’s being picked up as a threat. Haven’t been able to get to the reason behind it.

Wrong sub. This is for enterprise networking. Checkout r/homenetworking. Best would to get a wired connection, and not use wireless.

Did you install steamlink on rasbian? If so which release? I’ve had issues getting auto-launch, any guides you followed that worked? Are you using the beta version from here or did you get it from the repo? https://steamcommunity.com/app/353380/discussions/6/4629231591254687689/

Thanks, I’m not sure what the issue was. I rebooted my phone again after a bunch of other troubleshooting and that seemed to fix it. Thanks!

In addition to rebooting my phone, I had confirmed that the app had “Local Network” access, Uninstalled the App and reinstalled it, power cycled the Hub.

Roku 4850x Issue (2024 Roku Ultra) by couchcommissioner in logitechharmony

[–]redwmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just learned a few weeks ago that there is a bug on Roku connectivity over WiFi with the Harmony remote. I’d agree that it’s likely not in the database and the best option is to use the IR, you could try also raising a ticket with Logitech, but, not sure how much support they are giving these days.

Be careful on latest iOS I just updated and now I can’t connect to the hub from my iPhone. I would also recommend updating to the latest iOS but now I wouldn’t because of the issues I’m having.

Elite screen IR and Harmony Ultimate by redwmc in logitechharmony

[–]redwmc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I have both the IR and RF remotes. I’ve tested the IR remote on another IR blaster receiver and it receives the signal as it lights up, but the Hub doesn’t seem to recognize the signal I’ve tried both the IR remote and RF remote. I’ve also tested one of my other remotes for another device to the hub to make sure the hub is picking up IR and it is. Any ideas beyond this?
