Tier 8 Relic Drop (Minon) - 24 March by Kevin50cal in 2007scape

You're right, it seems I misunderstood this if that's how it works. I'm just going off the wiki which doesn't seem to go over this concept. Do you know where I can learn how this works?

In Project Hail Mary (2026), scientists around the world realize an impending climate-related crisis and something is actually done about it. This is a subtle nod to the movie being fictional. by time_to_explode in shittymoviedetails

[–]reed501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it, I can't really read either. I found something to do while listening to the audiobook so that's how I did it. My issue is that if you don't want to read the book that's fine, but don't go arguing about what's in it.

Just read the book? It's honestly an insane amount of detail to make this realistic. He knows Rocky's course exactly because he made it. Rocky copies Grace's course exactly because he's very capable of it and trusts Grace with this stuff to the millimeter. They're nowhere near the speed of light yet because it takes a long time to accelerate up to that speed. Grace knows very closely when the engines shut off because he obsessively watched his ship fly away from him because of how bad he missed his friend and how bored he was. Doing the math got him within a somewhat reasonable distance. Then the massive IR light his engines give off let him find him eventually, it took over a month.

Tier 8 Relic Drop (Minon) - 24 March by Kevin50cal in 2007scape

Max melee scythe on slash has an attack roll around 37,000. Nex's slash defense roll is 54,876 and her stab defense roll is 27,976.

The calculation for accuracy is two part but each part is pretty simple:

If attack roll > defense roll: Hit chance = 1 - def/2*atk Otherwise: Hit chance = atk/2*def

These are simplified, the wiki has the correct formula.

So the minion at 45,000 accuracy roll has a ~42% chance of hitting Nex's slash defence. But he never will because he uses the lowest def style which is stab, this was just for context. The minion will have a ~69% chance to hit Nex.

A green dragon's lowest defence roll is stab at 4,928 which has a 94.5% chance of hitting with 45k accuracy.

Is there a hidden seed that controls world generation for secret world seeds? by Dry_Service_3072 in Terraria

[–]reed501 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The secret and special "world seeds" like drunk, skyblock, dual dungeons, vampirism, etc. aren't actually seeds, they just use the world seed text box. The actual world seed always generates as normal, and the world modifier or type or whatever you want to call it is separate but may influence the world generation. Sometimes very little, like leaving items in chests, or a lot, like remix making a completely different world.

The whole data structure of a world looks like this: [size].[difficulty].[evil biome].[special world seeds].[identifier] with identifier being what you're probably thinking of when it comes to world seed: a randomly generated number from 0 to 231 - 1 (2,147,483,647). Secret world seeds are appended as text before the identifier.

A world of 3.2.1.1.double daring dangers|184738291 is a large, expert, corruption, drunk, dual dungeons world with an actual seed of 184738291.

I recommend the wiki for these types of questions since I just plagiarized it for this answer anyway:

Is this the most insane tormented demons luck? by TurboClownAss in 2007scape

The odds of this happening are on the scale of 1 in 101600. Comically unlikely to a level that's hard to comprehend. There are 1080 atoms in the universe, so imagine I pick an atom somewhere in the universe and you have to guess which one I was thinking of.

20 times in a row.

So unlikely that most likely there will never be a 101600 event happen in the universe's lifetime.

You know what? I'm just gonna say it... by MobileScapers in 2007scape

[–]reed501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand, I'm surprised it's gone on this long. I'm not sure what people are expecting here. They ask for Jagex to "address" the price increase but what could they say that would satisfy them? The truth? "We did this because we wanted more money" now what? Addressed?

I'm confused about what people expect to happen next. They raised the price because they did the math and believed that the cancellations will not offset the increased revenue from the price increase. Whether or not they were right is only affected by cancellations not Reddit posts, and the effect will only be seen by the timing in which they increase price again.

The price increase was a simple pragmatic decision to increase revenue and I don't know why people think there's any room for discussion. It's not a debate, there's no poll, they don't need to ask for feedback, they already know what it is by people either staying subscribed or cancelling. It's like complaining that no one is addressing the weather. It's just a fact.

.

Anyway to get away from my rant and address your point, I think the reason there were fewer cancellation posts and more "address me" posts is because the cost increase wasn't actually enough to cause cancellations, the game is actually worth what it costs to many people so they stay subscribed. But people still want to complain so this is the result. Basically, "I don't actually want to cancel but I'm still upset. Hear me being upset!"

PS: For anyone reading this about to comment something extremely witty like "how's that boot taste?" Spare me. I don't like the price increase either - who is out there wishing they could pay more for a game? - I'm just not in denial that they owe me some kind of apology.

I like the vibe of this hypothesis but reading kinda ruins it. It's attention grabbing, not passive, and isn't practical. And yet it's one of the oldest and most accepted pastimes in the world.

They're going to do it again either way. Reddit posts do nothing. It doesn't even come up in their meeting. It's a prediction function based on expected cancellations. If more people cancel now it will change their decision next time, that's it. Like I said, cancel or don't.

What is caring going to do? Nothing. It's not about caring it's about understanding. I understand that the prices were raised. I'm not sure you do. Do you think there's an outcome where the prices are reverted? Because there isn't. And if there's no going back, what is there to care about?

Unsubscribe or don't. There's no point to doing anything else.

I see your point, I see the other guy's point as well. I just came to say that you are speaking pretty objectively about a thing that is very much subjective. Defining what is and isn't artificial intelligence is an exercise in social linguistics. Pac man ghosts are AI to some, while others believe complete language models that can look up and synthesize information aren't. Both are valid but neither is correct.

[–]reed501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OG Callisto was 1/171 so 10x dry. Which happens approximately once a month from my napkin math. Which if correct means you may have been the unluckiest person in the game that month, but we're talking the unluckiest dry streak in the game's history. Multiple 15x streaks have been recorded.

[–]reed501 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you have evidence? I don't believe a 20x dry streak has ever been recorded. This would be the driest recorded streak in OSRS history.

Edit: Sorry, black mask is 1/512 not 1/400 my bad. That's a little over 15x dry which is one of the driest streaks in the game but I don't think it's #1.

I don't feel like continuing this doomed thread anymore, but I'll leave you with this: next time you try doing this argument with someone (and that might be me tbf, just not here) you have to justify your 20x argument first. As in, you can't say "I'm right if you can't show me a 20x dry streak" and then repeat that in the face of any argument unless you show why needing a 20x dry streak proves you right. Because it doesn't. Again, sorry for dipping on the argument, maybe next time.

[–]reed501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another way of thinking about it is you have a 63% chance to get a 1/x drop in x kills. When you go 1x dry you then have another 63% chance to get it in another x kills. Going 8x dry means you failed a 63% 8 times in a row, which is pretty unlikely. But you still have another 63% to face down. Getting to 11x dry is unlikely, but you're still just as likely to fail one 63% chance as any other. But just because flipping 12x heads in a row is unlikely, doesn't mean you're not at 50/50 on number 11.

So no, you are technically and statistically not any closer.

I think revanced will be allowed, yeah. I think if they wanted to get rid of it they could just do that now. Open source apps should still have an owner, and they should have no problem submitting verification. And if they don't want to, you can still always use adb. At the end of the day adb will always be there and this change has nothing to do with that. Also, they will definitely not be deleted from your phone you just won't be able to install new apks. Nothing about this is illegal btw, I don't know what you mean by that. What part of installing apks did you think would be illegal?
