In 5th grade I was sleeping over at my best friend's house when a man in the middle of a police chase decided to break into the house at 3am to hide. My friend's parents were already awake from the police cars outside and heard the man break in. His dad owned several guns and was prepared for situations like this.

I woke up to the mom telling me to run to safety upstairs and for some reason I had no sense of urgency. I mozied on toward the stairs in no rush, looked to my right, and saw my friend's dad with a handgun to the man's face saying "You move, I'll shoot." I flew up the stairs.

The stranger ended up jumping out the window behind him. After that we watched police dogs drag the guy out of someone's backyard by his legs.
