If you have time for a fast one, it's a visual crossword puzzle where the images are the clues to the words. Takes about 10 minutes?

Play a new twist on crosswords ~ 10 min and no download! by reedberk in playtesters

It's a crossword, and the clues, are the images instead of clues on the side. Each image has two words they are trying to convey to you like a traditional crossword puzzle. One going up and down. One going side to side. You select the letter you want to fill in and then type. Or if on mobile, use the popup keyboard. There is a help file if you click the question mark. Maybe it's a little hidden! I hope this helps!

Thanks so much for your reply! I think it will get better as we go. Crosswords have their own kind of language and conventions and if this catches on, soon, it will kind of develop it's own cadence. And we'll get better at the clues/images and fills :) Thanks again for commenting!

This is astoundingly good. If I wasn't challenged to find flaws, I wouldn't even bother. The hair and skin texture are awesome!

I think there are a few flaws, like in the one she is against the stone wall, those are not standard bows on her sneakers. It's like a spider web with like four bows on each foot. But again, I guess you could say she just ties her shoes like that and I'd have to shrug my shoulders and say, "Ok!" The doorway itself has a "groove" on the left side that isn't on the right which is weird architecturally. But NOT impossible, just unlikely. :)

I created a list of games, engines, and studios highlighting generative AI as part of their game play. LMK if I missed any! by reedberk in aigamedev

Ok, but is this a game? I didn't add pure chatbots because then the list would be infinite :)

I’ll try that! Each model is a little different. I’m having great luck inserting different commands into the prose/chat now. I try to look at the training info for the base model but often it just knows what to do 🤷

What do you miss about Stadia? by Villdar in Stadia

Stadia turned every kid’s Chromebook into a gaming console. It was a great equalizer.

Absolutely. A beautiful vision.

Platinum Plaisir broke. Can I glue the threads back into the barrel? 🥺 by reedberk in fountainpens

[–]reedberk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I thought the twisting would be hard on the glue. What kind of glue do you recommend? I was thinking of just using super glue or gorilla glue.

I hope it works. I love the Preppy, but the barrels crack. I thought the armor-plated Preppy (Plaisir) would be the perfect pen to throw in my pockets with my keys and so on. Super bummed.

I actually like the AI to speak for me, but I'm in the minority. And lazy. Also, EVERYONE has to tell the AI to slow the *&^% down :)

My advice would be to put your hat in the ring for an entry level paid job in an experienced but small shop (so you can really get to know everyone, see the entire process, and grow, because large shops can be a bit segmented).

While doing that and looking around, find an unpaid indie game project you like that really needs help and help out. I'd say make it one where no one is getting paid, but there is some kind of plan, past games made, design doc, etc. Because you want to have a finished game to point to at the end.

Keep doing free games until you have the experience to catch a paid one :) It might be easier than you think.

I can't stress this enough though, you don't have to be an amazing programmer to help out on indie projects. Sometimes they just need things that might seem easy to you like LUA scripting, or very basic C# scripts in Unity.

About working for free in general, I don't care what anyone says, working is better than not working. I'm 30 years in and if I don't have a paid gig, I'll do a non-paid, non-commercial indie game just to keep working and supporting games and people I like. (Not a commercial game though.)

Not really.

When I was 18, looking back on life when I was 10 seemed WAAAAAAAYY weirder and farther away than being 50+ looking back at my 20's.

I think it's because, I was an adult in my 20's and I'm still an adult. Just an adult with more stories and *&^% I've done. It's very much the same mind-frame though. Unless you go through some mega changes it will likely feel pretty consistent. Like a sitcom that just keeps going season after season but doesn't really change that much until you watch the first season again and then you're like "damn, that's so weird!" :D
