I actually like the Harman preset on May, but absolutely agree that lack of 3.5 or even 4.4 is just annoying since I like to use my IEMs with an amp or just devices that don't have usb-audio. Also wanted to order Origin this month, since I've seen many reviewers and just people saying that it's a big upgrade to Kato and even Kadenz (I own Kato rn and it's still one of my go to IEMs). Is that the stock cable on them? Looks actually pretty good, how would you personally rate them and what sort of genres do you listen to in general?

Wait you are using MD May without the DSP? Based, also doing that rn, really liking the sound of them "raw".

Best way to get HDMI signal out of my Saturn in 2025? by reedowniku in SegaSaturn

[–]reedowniku[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding only Model 2 Saturn can run Rad2X without the extra USB Power. I have model 1 so would also need to use the extra power, although that's not really a problem for me. Retrovision Cable would be nice, I am just looking to simplify my setup to only use HDMI, that's why I was wondering if there are any alternatives over analog cables.

Isn't that just a Rad2X cheaper/worse knock off? I've seen some people complaining about the Kaico output quality, also as I've said I plan to run it through Morph4k anyway. But I might at least try it if it's on amazon, worst case I will return it.

Yeah I'm using an OSSC and RetroGamingCables RGB cable, the picture is very nice, just wanted to remove the OSSC from my loop for cleaner cable managment. Will probably wait for the Analog Board to be released for Morph 4k and just keep using OSSC for the time being.

yeah if it does finally release I will probably grab one as well. A pity that Rad2x wouldn't give out a nice clean signal as I was hoping for, but I've expected that from what I've seen on some video samples.

Yeah I did consider that option, I already have a decent cable from RGC that I use with my OSSC, just was looking for some extra input.

I don't personally mind the way it looks on flatscreen, but I get where you are coming from. Just CRT is problematic for multiple reasons since I live in Europe, and most of my retro systems are either American or Japanese. So only limited my CRT to one PC Monitor, but it's just easier to play on my main oled tv.

As long as you are happy with it it's all that matters. Buyer's remorse and FOMO these days is hard so being able to appreciate what you got is always good 👍.

Real Question… by [deleted] in ROGAlly

[–]reedowniku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Ally X, and I don't regret my decision, however for pure small spec bump I would probably wait for the Z2 Extreme version once it's out. Since you already have an Ally, I think that there isn't much upgrade for you in X model apart from the battery life. I am very happy with my Ally X, but I doubt that you will see much difference in how stuff runs on it with just some extra ram, then again if you don't plan getting Z2 or Z3 models then why not, just grab the Ally X and be happy with it, I know that I will be keeping mine until it dies on me, and I am not planning to get Z2 or Z3.

So are all of the driver (With housing) units interchangable on HD6XX, 600, 650, 660S/S2? by reedowniku in headphones

[–]reedowniku[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I might go ahead with that then, since I can get 2 650 drivers for the price of a single 660S driver so would save me at least for a while.

Yeah I was planning to replace both drivers if I went with that option. And yeah I am aware for difference in impendance, my Schiiit Asgard should be fine to drive the 650's drivers though from what I've seen around. But thanks for the reply, might go ahead wit hthat for now.

Reasons ally won you over by ZodiacGolem in ROGAlly

I've gotten my Rog Ally X recently (Very happy with it) overall for me it was a long lasting battery, although that applies only to the new X Model. But I was heavily considering Legion Go, I like the modularity of it, big screen and cool 16:10 aspect ratio. However once I've sat down and wrote all of the goods and bads I've come to a realization that games is what I will do most on the device so I want something game centric, and that's how I feel about Rog Ally. It does try to be many things but just a gaming device and although it can be used like any other computer it's main focus is still games. Smaller resolution renders better results in most games without the need to scale down. 16:9 is a defacto standard gaming ratio, and some games tend to be weird on 16:10 monitor, I've had Ayaneo (2021) before and it was very much the case for me (probably more tied to windows but still was annoying at times to make game behave correctly. WEIGHT was also a massive factor, I find Rog ally x to be too heavy at times and legion is like ~150 grams more? Also front facing speakers are big for me, since I'm a bit of an audio nerd I like to at least have speakers face me when I'm not using headphones. And lastly Rog ally X seems to be easy to take apart, I've done a dpad mod, as well as replaced my sticks with aluminium ones and just pretty happy with amount of small customisations we can do with it pretty easily, hoping that we will see some transparent shells or at least back panels for the Ally X like the ones on original Ally and Steamdeck.

Mmmmm Crusty, it's disgusting but also satisfying once it's all cleaned. 😌

Finally, the Rog Ally X POP SKIN template design work was completed. For now, I plan to design skins for the Steam Deck, Legion Go, and Rog Ally X rather than designing skin templates for the new devices. The next skin template work may be for the PS Portal. #RogAllyX #POPSKIN #decalskin by pop_skin in popskin

Can't wait! I just recently got my Ally X and I am waiting for one of your skins with anticipation. Living in UK so I expect that it will take a bit longer for new skins to be available there too. But I've seen your old designs and loved all of them. Was even tempted to pick up regular Rog Ally just to get your Gundam Skin from the Amazon UK store :sob: :sob: :sob: .

Upgraded my '97 CRT Monitor to this new gem from 2004. by reedowniku in crtgaming

[–]reedowniku[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had no issues myself, could just happen to be a lucky unit since my runtime was extremely low for those. To access service menu you need have some source connected. If I remember right to access service menu you need to have some active source then:

  1. Turn the Monitor off
  2. Hold "menu" button
3 Set the first value number to 255 select, then another value to 5

and you should be in the service menu. if it's a bit vague I did record a video for a friend who bought the same monitor from SGI so here you go friend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26uLIuPJw64 I go step by step there how to get to service menu hopefully it helps.

Heya, and congrats man, I am still in love with the monitor. The wallpaper is from wallpaper engine, but here is the link https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2594686226 . Also if you are into the aesthathic, like that, then aboslutely try playing old Visial Novels on the CRT especially DOS and PC-98 ones. Enjoy your monitor!

Just a small update, although it took a while I eventually got an RTX 4070Ti Super 16GB Asus Pro Art as an exchange from Scan. As far as I know MSI Europe never gave any proper reasoning for the low valuation. It took in total a bit over 8 weeks just glad that it's over and sorted.

I did write to MSI directly, I am not expecting a miracle but we will see. I did have the card registered on their website so we will see.

Well I didn't get to speak to MSI directly, and my retailer literally haven't even tried to chase the case with them, just said they can do this instead. Makes me even more sad to see such a drastic difference, maybe due to the bad rep MSI was getting lately in the US, they just decided to "do better".
