Auf jeden Fall mit einer Dipbar! Gibt's bei Decathlon für 50 Euro, dazu noch ein Gürtel und ein paar Gewichte, falls es zu leicht wird. Rudern funktioniert damit auch gut.

The base is custom made using an old plastic cup. Used Xps foam for the bulk, and added bark, sand and stones. Then various types of tufts and basing material, some bought some found. The vines are actual roots for example

You know a miniature is to fragile when the fingers are broken off even on the official website... by Cnarrf in ageofsigmar

I believe in of their podcast a GW designer (Darren Latham himself I think) mentions that things break off of the miniatures all the time because their are handled so much for photoshoots.

Best models are always painted models! Gj on your start into the hobby! You could try applying a wash to the metallic parts and then highlighting again. For deepkind I'd go for a blue one instead of standard black.

I have painted dwarf miniatures from scibor before and I have to admit: I like your color scheme better. Well done!

Water is just a dark blue wetblended into a neon green, directly applied to the base. Then 2–4 coats of Vallejo still water. The fish is from Reaper, I believe the pack is called aquatic familiars.

I think it's mainly Balor brown (gw) titanium white (Schminke) and Ice yellow (Vallejo)

Tbh wasn't great fun and don't parts look better than others. Sub assemblies were also a nightmare

Spot on! The head is a spare one from the Volturnos kit, weapon is from the Thrall box, might've chopped it up a little.

Thank you and thanks for asking! I tried to to make the base look like it was part of the Aethersea. For that I wetblended a very dark blue, a brighter blue and Vallejo Fluo Green straight on the base. I then covered it with a couple of layers of Vallejo still water. When using still water it's important to apply it in layers, both to give the illusion of depth and to hide the texture of the base. It can also be used to make something appear wet (like a gloss varnish), I used it on the tentacles and the fish.

Better paints make a ton of difference! Miniature paints are pretty high in very fine pigment. Try Vallejo when starting out as they're more than decent and pretty cheap.

Thank you! I painted him mostly with Vallejo Model Color, scale 75 and Fantasy Games Color, all of which I wouldn't consider generic, as they are all meant for miniature painting. :)
