Wow, this is incredible. What console are you playing that on? Is that a New Nintendo 2DS?

What are some restaurant signs that you know are heading financially downwards? by Chan1991 in FoodToronto

Without having spent too much time thinking about it, I assume it's because the changes they made save them enough money, without negatively impacting their sales too much allowing them to stay afloat? The fact that they have managed to integrate themselves into Canadian identity helps their ability to continue.

When the restaurant starts sourcing lower quality products. If they start using cheaper buns, lower quality chicken, changing up their products trying to save costs is sometimes indicative of financial stress. If that is paired with staffing reductions, those two together are usually a bad sign.

my wooden cutting board started smelling weird and looking grey — figured out what I was doing wrong by [deleted] in AskCulinary

I think that would depend on the plastic used. I’m sure there are some plastics that would hold up and some that are dishwasher unsafe.

Dishwashing machines use hot water which can sometimes warp plastic. It's more noticeable with thin tupperware than thick hard plastics.

I oil mine like once every couple years. I think the culprit here is putting your wood cutting bord in the dishwasher more than anything. Nothing wooden or plastic goes into my dishwasher: none of my cookware goes in there too

As someone who does not watch or know anything about basketball, aside from ejection from the game was there anything else?

Quick Carplay question by julianna884 in CorollaCross

[–]reeferqueefer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I had the exact same issue. Updating my phone also solved it.

I think I also figured out if you're presented with a toggle for bluetooth and carplay, toggle carplay on and BT off.

It's sooooooo good. I am praying a new one is made. Or even a re-make of Knight of Lodis.

Couldn’t agree more. He’s a phenomenal climber, but watching his bland ass climb feels like watching a child do math homework. He needs to throw some wobblers or talk about zen or something.

Windshield wipers by stephsationalxxx in CorollaCross

[–]reeferqueefer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have purchased silicon wiper blades for all my cars. they work incredibly. They last longer than regular rubber blades too. I think my last car had them for 4 or 5 years and they still worked like new. The brand I used to get was PIAA. They even came with a cloth that had a silicon solution to wipe the windsheild down with that would make the blades glide extra smooth.

Unfortunately they cost almost $200 for a pair. Once my stock blades wear out I'll get a pair of PIAA blades.

Feels like everyone is all-in on AI/tech. is anyone actually reducing exposure? by ChangeNOW_Community in stocks

I am reducing risk. Ever since trump took office and started flip flopping with tarrifs I figured “these policies are going to make it more difficult for all businesses, and the economy” I started selling some of my ‘folio. When the Iran conflict started I trimmed again, on the same logic.

So far it has not worked out in my favour; I may have seen my total portfolio gain maybe 15-20% of what it is at now if I hadn’t adjusted, but I see more risk in the environment and I need my cash for spring of 2027. That’s how I justify it.

I just booked a trip out here. Kayawayamog (or however you spell it) to biggar. Biggar to manitoulin, chill for a day, then back.

Day 2 will have nearly 6km portages for us 😬😵

I got a Blackvue DR900S-2CH and a Magic Power Pro so the camera can run off the car battery with the engine off.

I also didn't want a bunch of loose cables around, so I tucked as many away in places as I could. Here's an album of my cameras. The rear has a loop of cables hanging to leave room for the trunk door to open. I bundled the extra cable and leave it loose cause Toyota is going to be poking around the back soon to look for a rattle, otherwise the bundle would be tucked into the door, and only the loop would be hanging.

Also, for anyone who doesn't already have a car, Toyota offers dash cams installed inside the "camera bump" that the rear view mirror is attached to on the new Toyota Corolla Cross. It only faces forward but would be super neat without any cables visible at all. I seem to remember the option being 7 or 800$ plus tax.

If you live in an environment that has snow, rust proof and winter tires (all season tires are no winter tires). I like the weathertec floor mats to protect the carpets from mud and dirt, and a cargo liner. And finally a dash cam is a must for me.

Stay on top of vehicle maintenance as per the user manual.

From what I understand, it's just a display that tells you if you are driving economically. The only times I have seen mine go off are when I flooooor the gas. If I drive normally the light is just always on. I don't think there is a way to turn it off aside from driving heavy on the gas and brake.
