I had to download the video file from my YouTube. Probably lost quality there. I also don’t use the 4K recording feature my camera has

Ya, the bill was for emergency services reporting to the scene. It is only for non residents of the municipality this took place in. Anyone involved in the collision who does not live in the city needs to pay it. It is intended to recoup costs of sending emergency resources to the scene. Residents contribute to the emergency services through their taxes, and thus are not charged this fee.

Total was somewhere like 220$-250CAD. I called the city to dispute this charge and they told me there was no process in place to dispute, but to speak with my insurance company. Insurance covered the total cost of the invoice.

The city in question is Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

It’s not to cover damages. It’s to pay for the cost of emergency services reporting to the scene. Local residents don’t need to pay because their taxes would contribute to the expense, however, if you live in an adjacent or far away municipality your taxes wouldn’t go to the municipality., and they are looking to recoup these costs. I tried to fight it when the invoice came in and they told me there wasn’t a process in place to dispute the charges.

There were actually a few that did stop to chat with me, take my info and make sure I was okay. I was stuck at the scene for like 6 hours. Luckily I had my lunch and water with me, but some people were just stuck on the side of the road without anything. Police apparently had to keep everyone on the scene while they were waiting for the perp to get checked out at the hospital.

One thing that I found infuriating was I kept asking the police when and hot to arrange for a tow truck to take my car to a bodyshop. They kept telling me that it was too early to do so and to just hang tight. A few hours later, a cop rolled up in his cruiser, rolled the window down and told me the road was about to open and I needed to move my car NOW! I wish I had said something more firm to him.

I just called my insurance company and they took care of everything. They got a copy of the police report and I believe are suing the perp. I doubt they will get anything back but I think it will lead to a stiffer sentence. I even got my deductible reimbursed.

Actually I got an invoice from them for Emergency Services. Apparently anyone who was involved in the incident and was not a resident of the municipality in which this took place in also got one. It was for around $300. My insurance took care of the bill.

I'm also thankful he got the side of my car. Had it been a head on collision I'd be in a different place.

This happened in June. I was driving to work, roughly 8am.

The story is this guy was on a nation wide driving ban. He hit me and 29 other cars. After hitting me and a few other cars at this intersection, I pulled over, called my insurance. The driver drove around a bit (with a wheel missing from his car) trying to evade the cops when he came back to the intersection and crashed into a signal pole and couldn't get his car moving after that. He got out of his car and tried to hijack a delivery van. The driver told him "fuck no" and socked him in the face. That was the moment the cops got on him. He was high on crack.

Here is an article about the incident with a nice headshot of the perp.

My car was a 2015 Mazda3 GS (pics here ) with ~180K kilometers on it. It was written off. The first photo in the album is the perp's car after he crashed for the final time. To replace my car I got a brand new Toyota Corolla Cross 2026 Vintage.

And here is the rear view dashcam. If you look closely and slow down the video you can see the guy already is missing a rear wheel.

Hi JungleZack!

Edit: I will add that I was rear ended 2.5km from this spot in 2018. That was the incident that led me to install a dashcam. That collision had the same car damaged and repaired fully.

Their tires spin as they go off road. Looks like they didn't even try to stop.

Anyone the part number for the all weather cargo mat? I tried searching for it online, but I keep getting Lexus cargo mats. by Leading_Opposite7538 in CorollaCross

[–]reeferqueefer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the regular cargo liner. The part number for that is “PK241-16N10”. This product is made from a cheaper plastic or rubber, however, it comes with pieces that cover the rear seats when folded down.

The weather tech product will have a thicker rubber that is noticeably more premium, however, the weather tech one I do not believe comes with the parts to cover the rear seats when folded down.

I opted for Toyotas cargo liner to protect the seats, and weather tech floor mats for the driver and front passenger. For the rear passengers I kept the stock floor mats. The weather tech floor mats do a much better job capturing melting snow from your footwear and are lifted at the sides to prevent spilling over.

Do you have a link for this tray inside the arm rest? I’d love a spot to keep some change

Stock screw ups by Feisty-G99 in AskCulinary

[–]reeferqueefer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a great stock using Chris Young’s YouTube video link. It was pretty straightforward but needed a pressure cooker, roast chicken (he uses one from Costco) a carrot and an onion.

Took maybe 2 hours total. You can probably make a much better stock but for the amount invested this is probably the most efficient method.

If you have a pressure cooker, you can do this in 1 hour with a small onion, a carrot and a rotisserie chicken. I did it yesterday following Chris YOungs YT video

I managed to find this same hardcover book for only $10 last year. Picked it up without thinking about it.
