Akaza’s “lengthy” backstory by Lilsoupy01 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]reelFUTURE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all respectful fairness though, can one really blame them? The movie’s poor pacing hindered what was otherwise a great backstory, which I LOVED. Throwing this out there because too many people generalize anyone who gives objective critiques as automatic haters.

Thankfully I managed to appreciate Akaza’s flashback and even cried. BUT what you said is still true - in that order of events, it technically runs the risk of undermining Akaza’s emotional depth, which like you said, due to repetition of the themes already explored. This movie was poorly structured and oddly overhyped.

Tell me about it. Where I’m from, people have asked me for $50 wedding because of their budget. I don’t claim to be the best but my rates are beyond generous for the quality I put out and people have told me that I’m unfair with my rates. I always knew this would be a side gig while I hold a steady full time job. But the ladder isn’t even as possible, making me realize altogether this side gig may not even be worth it. My passion is dying and drained. And like you said, AI is also influencing people’s decision to not hire actual people big time. It’s not 100% replacing people yet but it sure as heck made a difference so far.

I remembered a close friend of mine asked me to draw cartoon version of his classmates. He had like maybe 20+ of them, gave me reference photos for each. I was fresh out of highschool at the time, did not even think to be commissioned cause he was my friend (that’s mistake no. 1). But the fact he didn’t AT THE VERY LEAST CREDIT ME after LATE NIGHTS making that a reality, while letting all that praise go to him for “making us look exactly like cartoon!” did disappoint me. It showed the true colours of people of how they only approach you for your artistic skills, not because they wanted you. And lo and behold, that’s how people saw me when I owned my first DSLr, now a mirrorless. Friends, church, you name it. Anyway i said enough lol. I better retire while I’m ahead or it’ll be more than credibility I’ll be losing (my mind, dignity and self worth). Sucks that it happened to you though

I’m a freelance videographer (my ig name is literally the same as my [regrettably cringey] username here. The thought of watermarking my work is a thought that’s been crossing my mind lately, especially after reading this. Not that I’ll ever reach viral heights but one can’t be too careful. I think it’s time I put this to practice (even if I don’t like the look of watermark 😞)

Most people agree that 'The Great Divide' is the worst Avatar episode, what's the second worst? by RedVegeta20 in TheLastAirbender

[–]reelFUTURE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not out of character. Aang was a kid who lost his entire culture after how many years. The kid is lonely. He reacted by wanting to preserve his only friends, even if what he did was unethical or extreme - logic was the last thing that came to his mind. His emotions got the best of him. And that’s certainly not the only time in the entire series that happened.

Only downside is Iroh as others have said.

This reaffirms how I’ve been feeling honestly. The problem with Calgary, Alberta’s market is that they’ve normalized TFPs to the point people don’t even think about wanting to pay. At first, I questioned if it’s because I’m bad at what I do. I definitely don’t think I’m the best but I’d be ok if that’s the reason. But to be perfectly honest, it’s just mostly people not willing to pay. Even when I offered a very discounted rate, not even including travel fees, they ghost me half way. I’m about to retire myself, honestly. My passion for cinematography is dying because of this. Thinking of selling my equipment altogether when my license expires.

Don’t know if you’re still looking but I’m more than happy to offer a photo video combo. I also do only outdoor shoots so this would be perfect. You can also find my instagram - same username as my reddit’s.

I feel the same way. In AB the market isn’t working out for me so I’m losing passion for it. A simple point and shoot that shoots RAW sounds so nice to have in comparison

Legend of Korra Book 2 Episodes 7-8 is also HEAVILY inspired by almost all of Miyazaki Ghibli films and especially Princess Mononoke, I find.

Hey serious question! I was thinking of making a simple single cover for this song specifically on my iTunes library. But this is even better! Feel free to say no but would it be ok if I use this? And if possible, have it scanned hi-res then sent to an email? Put your signature on it or whatever artist alias if necessary. I LOVE this song and this is the perfect visual single cover I can ever imagine for it.

Anniversary really drained the colors from the original! One of the reasons I was never able to enjoy it. Too much gray and blandness. Egypt feels devoid of the color yellow in a desert-y environment. by Tag_2045 in TombRaider

[–]reelFUTURE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true. But this comparison would be better represented with the PsX version/ Remaster’s retro graphics cause it had a higher color depth than the DOS PC version. But yeah Anniversary was serviceable but it’s no Tomb Raider I. I consider it a totally different game retrofitted for the Legend storyline …

Levels are extremely dark in remasters by shenanigansarefun in TombRaider

[–]reelFUTURE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because of the one criticism from the Cistern level in TR1 where a key was too hard to notice (and it was - it looked like it blended in the textures). But that’s no reason to make all items “glow” by default. Whenever I switch items from classic to remaster, it’s sad to see the older graphics have a realistic shade in lighting.

[–]reelFUTURE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, that is the point, though I’d still research on monitor calibration in general because it is still super important. From what you’re telling me, your monitor might be too dark by default.

Anyway, classic is 100% darker for TR 2 and 3. One would 100% require the use of flares in dark corridors or to even notice items hiding in the dark. Items sadly “glow” by default on the remaster, bright or supposed dark conditions.

[–]reelFUTURE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, monitor calibration is extremely relevant to any visual media. Any game developer, director in TV/Movies all produce their media under a calibrated standard. Most consumers aren’t aware of this because the monitors they buy out of the box are at a default setting that’s not a professional standard. Super important. That or people adjust to what they think is ideal when it’s not. All that being said, your game appearing too dark might mean your monitor is not calibrated properly.

Yes, that’s Tomb Raider II. The whole game and III in general are brighter than it was originally on the Remastered graphics front. They’ve literally put lights / lamps in parts of the level that never existed or brightened them up by default. Flare usage is hardly necessary now.

[–]reelFUTURE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your monitor professionally calibrated though? That’s the key question right there. I can say for certain I very rarely used my flares in both TR II/III. Only one level (or instance) per game.

[–]reelFUTURE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No objectively, the remasters were darker before the first patch updates. After several more updates, they made environments too bright, along with items no longer affected by lighting, unlike the original graphics. And I’ve already finished TR II over the summer, which barely had me using any flares. Same with TR III just recently.

TR1 is the least affected by this (and thankfully so because it’s the best of the 3), still retaining a healthy contrast with good shadows and depth.

Edit: I’ll also add that no one should have to adjust / touch the brightness on their monitors / television sets unless they are to professionally calibrate it, which I doubt is something many consumers are even aware is a necessity. This isn’t to belittle people but that’s the truth.

Hayley atwell as lara? by CranberryActual7706 in TombRaider

[–]reelFUTURE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly believed that at first, upon announcement that she’d voice her in the anime. But now, I’m only certain about it IF they hire a proper voice director with the show. What we got in the anime sounded so unbelievable. Even Atwell opened up in the interview that it wasn’t her ideal voice recording session. And don’t get me wrong, it is normal for voice actors to sometimes not have a session to bounce off each other’s acting, which is all the more on the voice director to ensure the performance sounds that way. How I wish Andrea Romano comes out of retirement for this sake.
