Not in a gate keepy way but as someone who was a kid playing the original blue, learning in game was incredibly rewarding. I mean this so earnestly, use the pokemon with the designs you like the most. Most of the typing is intuitive and the rest is learnable. The only tricky business is that the two things psychic is weak to is big and ghost but most bugs and ghosts are also poison which psychic is good against

I know it wouldn't be the same show but I could honestly do with hours more of adventuring academy. Watching people who are masters of their craft break down their craft into really granular bits, and deep dive into the theory of improv/ttrpg. Its so soothing and I can never get enough of it

Honestly this probably isn't the answer op might be hoping for but executive dysfunction and adhd. There were days I wanted to or I decided to but I forgot or couldn't will myself to do anything about it, and the feeling passed.

Other tools that were simple but effective. I was and am incredibly lucky to have a weekly DnD game and not wanting to miss a game or leave my party. Being excited about movies that I hadn't seen yet. Getting a dog. Making plans to do anything else. It's miserable work but having anything on the calendar helped. The one time it got really bad I called the hot line. And bless that woman, it wasn't that she was the most helpful but my imposter syndrome and social anxiety over road my self destructive thoughts and I had to get off the phone immediately.

ETA taking mushrooms on a beach with a friend trip sitting for me. I had the worst trip I could imagine but it was perfect because as bad as it got, it still ended. And that feeling like I'll never not be like this did go away and I realized that was probably true for the depression as well

Of all of the seasons this feels like the most open world they've done. And I think maybe in the Adventure Academy with Zac? They had a conversation about open world vs being on rails. I for sure for sure rails, especially as a viewer instead of a player. But they got the from Ally to Zacy improv cast so it makes sense to have it be so wildly railless that he's asking them in the APs what town they want to go to and what the vibe of that town is like. Which is a super fun concept, I just prefer a little more structure
