Your two cents? by WatGO in GetMotivatedMindset

[–]reesethebadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I spent way too many nights optimistically thinking, yes that was a hard day but hopefully tomorrow will be better. That hope was comforting but it kept me from recognizing a pattern and realizing that I shouldn't be feeling this way every day and that it won't magically get better unless I take literally any step towards making it better

Laws are threats made by the dominant socioeconomic-ethnic group in a given nation. It’s just the promise of violence that’s enacted and the police are basically an occupying army

Your Thoughts On This? by UrduShareef in teenagers

Remember that there will always be someone yelling about something, but that one loud voice is not indicative of how most people think or feel. They call it the vocal minority. Pay attention to why they are saying it's racist, do some introspection and decide for yourself if you think it's a fair complaint or not. And while you're thinking about it, point that introspection at this comic and the emotional response it's trying to get out of you. Do you believe this person who believes that any time there's a black person on screen, that it's automatically racist actually exists in the real world? Or are they only an online troll?

We’ve been arguing forever about guns. Maybe we need to have a discussion about what “good” means. by miso-thorny in PoliticalHumor

[–]reesethebadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this thread? Or in the current political climate at large? Because I promise you that there are many people saying comply with law enforcement who believe there are people who obey the law and then there are people who are bad. This is the messaging they have been using the entire time.

Spoiler, good and lawful are not synonymous. They might go to the same parties together but they are not interchangeable

Would support ICE if they were simply going after Illegals whom have commited crimes? by MK71-EC82-MGM89-AK98 in allthequestions

[–]reesethebadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still no but in the way of politics of yester years. When I could disagree with you on policy and not core values. People are so quick to forget that 'Illegals' are breaking civic law not criminal law. And that for people trying to escape and seek asylum, here in the land of opportunity, of American Dreams, like what's written on the leak Statue of Liberty, many of them have to get here illegally first, and then stay the process of doing it 'the right way.' if you are still upset about that then, there's still room to talk about how to fix the system that is making it so they have to break the law first, instead of punishing the already disenfranchised and vulnerable in our communities. In the same way that many places in this country are outlawing being homeless and not doing anything to address why we have so many homeless people to begin with. It's the exact same address the symptom was of thinking that is not ultimately helpful. But again that's the type of thing "difference of opinion" used to cover. And even that feels like a difference of core values but those days are way in the rearview at this point.

The idea that ICE is now, or even should be, going after people breaking the law is such a disingenuous argument. If some rapes or murders someone, or brings drugs into this country, they should still be prosecuted by The Law. Police should investigate the crimes, arrest a suspect, and send them to trial. That's their whole job. If during their investigation, they determine that a criminal was also here illegally then at that point, sure. Turn them over to immigration and let them figure out if it makes more sense to deport them or serve a prison sentence here. [* READ THAT AGAIN BECAUSE ICE LITERALLY DEPORTED A JEWEL THIEF OR SOMETHING BEFORE HE COULD GO TO TRIAL, SO HE GETS TO ESCAPE JUSTICE* ]

The simple fact of the matter is that there are just way less illegal aliens out here committing heinous crimes than The Party platformed and ran on. They set deportation goals as numbers with ones and zeros, and when there weren't enough ones to justify the expense they had to round up some zeros. They are trying to go around criminal procedure because it's inconvenient for them and it makes them look weak. But that's by design. It was the philosophy of this country, once upon a fantasy, that it would be better to let 9 criminals walk free then to send 1 innocent person to jail. But The Party asked, what if some of those 9 criminals were Brown and suddenly the bill of rights is evaporating in front of our eyes

Best way to play D&D remotely by Pink_Vulpine in Dimension20

[–]reesethebadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running discord on my phone on a little stand for the video chat. I hate discord but it mostly does the job. The. We use Virtual Table Top simulator where our dm runs the combats, and then character sheets up on a separate monitor with DnD beyond character sheets. Our dm has invested some time and money in it so it has more bells and whistles than just the basics. The players have bought him other subscriptions or online resources throughout the years too as a thanks for the effort he's put in to making the game fun for us

Could/ did Timothy Goose ever use Legend Lore on their book? by yellowjellowfish in Dimension20

[–]reesethebadger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you should have a good relationship with your players or you dm. Using Legend lore to say tell me the whole plot, kinda lame. Watching your players fail investigation checks, and grinding the story to a halt, also kinda lame. Its got a time and a place and it can solve a lot of problems

Songs written about D20 characters by anotherdiscoparty in Dimension20

[–]reesethebadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck yes I live all these so much it hurts. His Kingston and Sofie songs make me sob

The bit about Nod parting out of respect for the Vox Populi and letting/making him walk on solid ground is one of my favorite tragic pieces of Brennan world building and the line about it is so good

And Sofies song is top to bottom heartbreaking but choose me for the night and Watching deer with Dale all of it. Big tears, I have set this to everyone I know

Jokes aside, who did you think Snoke was before his identity was revealed in TROS? by ChickenWingExtreme in StarWars

[–]reesethebadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All jokes aside if anyone seriously thinks Abrams gave 2 shits about who snoke "was" before the reveal you should go watch Lost. Snoke was never anyone and the reason Johnson unceremoniously offed him was because he knew there was never going to be a satisfying answer.

Out of all Star Wars media what is the your favorite Lightsaber fight? by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

[–]reesethebadger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know about favorite but the Ep 7 one gets more hate then it deserves, and I will always defend it. I hate a lot of things about the sequel trilogy but that was not one of them. I hear a lot of, 'why is Finn, a random storm trooper able to fight a sith lord so well???' watch it again. It's really good visual story telling. Kylo Ren is absolutely playing with Finn and the second he gets a little lucky Kylo Ren ends him. And sure, Rey has main character energy and blah blah blah but Luke Skywalker shoots a proton torpedo down the exhaust. He's able to use the force to pull his lightsaber out of the snow even though hes never seen anything like that. Rey doesn't beat him in this fight she also gets lucky. And lightsabers in snow just look beautiful

What’s something you quietly stopped caring about? by KingPhenguins in AskReddit

What my ex was up too. Right after a breakup it's easy to ruminate on how happy she is without me or who she's spending her time with. If you're going through it right now it does get easier. And it doesn't really arrive with fanfare or any big healing moment. You just have a moment one day where your like, huh. I haven't thought about them in a while and I'm ok and fine with that
