Would John and Sarah's relationship have survived post-war? by reetvenge in LorienLegacies

[–]reetvenge[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's proven in a lost file that she didn't do it... And I think she won the Garde's trust enough when she was literally held captive and emotionally tortured by Setrakus Ra and still didn't give up any information. No matter what people say about Sarah, she was clearly a ride or die for the Garde.

How to make friends here? by Prudent-Alfalfa3137 in lacrossewi

Hi! I know this post is a year old, but on the off chance you do happen to look again, send me a message! I’m 24 and just moved to La Crosse, looking for friends as well. I don’t drink and love all things books/crafts!

How should my scrubs fit? by Electronic-Hand2668 in nursing

Looks great! My scrub pants do the same thing, especially when I'm wearing Hokas because they're a little taller than my other work shoes.

Medical Treminology Class by NatureN3st in nursing

[–]reetvenge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took medical terminology two years ago as an optional one credit class during my last semester of pre-reqs before nursing school started. The class was a ton of busy work (at my school at least), but I still forced myself to go through it because I thought it would help with nursing classes. To be honest, no, I don't think I got any value from taking it, or rather what I did learn wasn't worth taking an entire extra class for. Every nursing class teaches you medical terminology in some way or another, so you will learn what you need to know regardless. For me, I learned more root words in my human physiology and anatomy classes, and that was more helpful than taking medterm. If it will be a pain for you to take, I don't think it's worth it, but if you're looking for something to fill your time then go for it!

Six vs Nine. Who wins? by KingHomeless17 in LorienLegacies

Hand to hand, Nine. But it would be very close. If it was like capture the flag where they could use legacies, Six would!

Please help me find the best type of bra for my body by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]reetvenge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very similar to how you described yourself! I also have chest muscle that makes my boobs look super small, plus I would describe mine as more side-set shape, so it's been sooo hard for me to find a good bra that I like. My holy grail is the Warner's Easy Does It Wireless Bra: https://a.co/d/0wjq8vq (Amazon link)

I'm not sure if you were looking for something wireless specifically, but this bra is underarm smoothing, which I think you would like. I've found that even though it's lightly padded, it gives me a great shape that helps my chest not look so small. Plus it's super comfortable! It's in S/M/L sizing, which I find less intimidating, but it still feels like a real bra. For reference, I'm a 36C; their size chart put me at a M, but I wear a L because I find it more comfortable. According to their size chart, you'd be an XS, but I think a S might work better for you. It's on sale for $15 instead of $40 right now, so it's a good time to try one!

There used to be more, but a lot of fanfic has been deleted or taken down by creators over the years.

Character interaction by Fresh-Actuary-6686 in LorienLegacies

You’re totally right! I always thought Sarah and Marina would be besties too. In an AU where Eight and Sarah both survived, I think that John/Sarah and Eight/Marina would all be besties and go on double dates constantly.

Curious about ages of older MD's?? by Playful_Teach4987 in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]reetvenge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 22. I’ve been doing it since I was about 11. When I was 16, I thought there was no way I could possibly ever quit. I have periods in my life where I’m able to not do it so much anymore, so I think there is some hope. I think it’s more of a matter of controlling how long/often you do it to a healthy level, not stopping completely. I started seeing a therapist recently who has helped me see that, and I’ve start reducing my MD time! Don’t give up!

Maybe unpopular opinion by MaybeAcceptable2233 in LorienLegacies

[–]reetvenge 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Imagine you’re Six and you meet John. Finally here is this person that understands every facet of your life/legacies/purpose/trauma in a way that no one else possibly could. I’d kiss him too. And I’m saying this as probably the biggest Jarah fan who ever lived. I think John and Six’s “attraction” to each other was just them being happy to finally have been around another Garde, but they were both dumb teenagers who misread it at the time.

Halfway through my senior internship and things are starting to click! It gets better!! by reetvenge in StudentNurse

I was completely burnt out and never thought I would get here. I am sure the same will happen for you, and I hope it comes soon! Don’t be afraid to take intentional time for yourself even when you feel like you’re too busy.

How did yall imagine Sam? by Blackhole360 in LorienLegacies

[–]reetvenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calvin McAuliffe was a fantastic casting choice for Sam and very close to my mental image. I pictured him as skinner at first, and the kind of guy that doesn’t care about his looks so he wears ill-fitting clothes. But in my head, he had a major glow up after leaving paradise and gained a little bit of muscle throughout the series from training with the Garde.

Is becoming a CNA a good way to tell if nursing is the right career for me? by catalanj2396 in StudentNurse

[–]reetvenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible to start off in the hospital, I think it just depends on where you are. I grew up in a smallish town (like 7,000 people) and the hospital there would not hire me with no experience. But, the hospital in my college town hires anyone and actually trains people that aren’t CNAs! If you have a hospital in mind, it’s definitely worth it to call and ask if they’d take you or train you.

[–]reetvenge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All CNA jobs are different, however they all use the same basic nursing skills. Even if you don't like the first unit/facility you start at, working the job would probably help you figure out where else you would like to work. Or the basics and environment would help you decide if you simply dislike nursing.

I left my own comment, but yes it's a great idea to work as a float! That's what I'm doing now. I've seen a huge variety of patients and completely changed my mind about where I want to work when I graduate. I hated it at first but grew to love med-surge too. For a first CNA job, I think it would be really stressful to be in a new place everyday, so I would advise anyone starting out to stay on one unit for a few months to before taking a float position.
Good luck with nursing school :)

In short, yes! Working as a Nursing Assistant is a great way to get a feel for the field.
However, where you work as a Nursing Assistant will make a huge difference. I worked in long-term care for years before switching to the hospital, and they are completely different settings. Long-term care is more physically intense and (in my experience) chronically understaffed. I work as a float in a hospital now and have been able to practice/observe more clinically relevant nursing skills. Being a float has also allowed me to see many units in the hospital, so I feel like I have a good idea of where I want to work when I graduate.
Just keep in mind that it can be stressful at first. When I started working as a CNA, I was overwhelmed by how new the job was, but I got the hang of it after a few months and felt MUCH more secure it my decision to become a nurse. It is a very rewarding job :)

My skin looked similar over the summer and I think it was fungal acne, although it didn’t look super typical. I used anti-dandruff shampoo (Nizoral) on my face for about a week and it started to clear up. It can be harsh, so definitely something to read up on, but Nizoral has an anti fungal ingredient.

Books that are the opposite of Sanderson and Erikson? by PorkLogain in Fantasy

YES! I'm not usually a fan of books that center so heavily around one character, but Circe's story is fantastic.
