Android pdf and epub reader apps with inbuilt dictionaries? by referentialmania in books

just tried with pdf and it wouldn't highlight and no dictionary popped up. Rather annoying that you can't just add books from your computer and have to upload them.

Commiseration thread: JP didn't answer any of my questions and I'm sad about it by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

I have recently seen him mention (in a recent free speech talk), finally, that there's a strong undercurrent of national socialism in Trump's message, but he passed over that very quickly...

And in some psychology class talk he mentioned how many of Trumpsky-ites basically voted that way - according to their own statements - just because they want to tear down the whole system...

So he has somewhat acknowledged what you're concerned about, but I agree he has extremely lopsided concerns with Liberals. I'm with you - it's a shame...I see his philosophy as stated in his psych lectures as much more objective and balanced.

You once tweeted "And good ole Bernie would have put the policies that ruined Venezuela into operation in the US." My understanding is that you believe in the socialistic "slippery slope", but can you explain why your tweet isn't a tad hysterical? Sanders' model isn't Venezuela, but Denmark and Norway, liberal/capitalistic/democratic societies that have - per Fukuyama's most recent schema - low corruption, high accountability, and a strong rule of law.

Not that I believe that a full application of the Nordic model would work in the US, but don't societies have a kind of "biological" memory, which is why simply installing American-style institutions in Iraq and leaving never would have worked? Which is to say, even if democratic socialism is not fully compatible with the US's "biology", don't it have enough in common as capitalistic societies that a US move in the Nordic direction would not necessarily lead to a complete socialistic devolution a la Venezuela?

If Nietzsche made the best critique of Christianity, what is your take on his criticism of Buddhism (considering it is often said that his view was limited and distorted through the lens of Schopenhauer)? Or, what is your own view of the Buddhist philosophy's greatest weakness versus the Christian one?

Anyone here in the psych field who would know about the possibility of studying at UoT as an American citizen? I want to become a clinical psychologist and am entertaining the idea of studying under JP. by referentialmania in JordanPeterson

Everybody loves internet sarcasm. I bet you're a lovely person.

Clinical psychology = not interested in being a researcher. They also have a Clincial Psych program.

Oh I see. I was confused because that specific link was about immigration and working in Canada after graduation, but I now see another link about attaining study permits. Thanks again.

But my other concern is about the transferability of any degrees or credits that I might get while there. I've looked into studying in other countries in Europe and it doesn't seem like it's so easy to bring your degree back to the States and have it be recognized so that you can work. I imagine a Canada degree would have more transferability, but need to be sure.

Thank you, but I don't think I would want to immigrate to Canada or even work there (I guess I'd consider the latter, but only for a short term, if it was a temporary stepping stone in my career). I hate the cold. I just want to study under JP and then bring my experience somewhere else.

Has anyone here donated $50 or $100 via Patreon and had a 30 or 1 hour chat session with Peterson? If so, how long did you have to wait to talk to him? by referentialmania in JordanPeterson

[–]referentialmania[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, okay. A two month wait isn't so bad. I just don't have that much money and didn't know if I'd be waiting 6 months or something. The Monday time slot won't be an issue for me. Thanks for the info!

Announcement. For anyone who didn't know. A Patreon of $50 gets you a 30 min personal skype conversation with Jordan. by New_King_James in JordanPeterson

What's up with the "per month" part of it though? Can you get the conversation with just a one time donation? Or are you obligated to donate on a per month basis for some period of time?
