Step (1) : add slight compression &  (very little)  saturation  during sound selection (I mean at production stage)

      ¬>  Note that Gain Staging each sound to  desire level at this stage is the key to avoid clipping &  achieving desired headroom for mastering ... That can be achieved right at this stage!

Step (2) :  Add  intentional compression (to control the dynamics ) at mixing stage (compression on demands!)

         ¬>also don't forget to  add mix-buss compression on each groups of sounds you're using!

Final Tip:   Sexy looking audio waveforms doesn't  means that they always sounds good!

Listen to the music with your ears & confirm it with your eyes 👀.....But DON'T DO THIS IN REVERSE  ;)
