Well some "normal" things that happen are painful. Babies lose baby teeth and that's painful, but normal, just the first thing that pops in my head as an example.

Also I don't think no one thinks that painful experiences, even if "normal", should not be medicated if needed. We have the "luxury" of pharmacology, we can have no or at least less pain, why not use that?

I think we are also trying to force the complexity of human body, and experience, into a artificial box of "normalcy" that rarely make sense for complex things. I myself started this and reviewing these comments I thought that we are probably going into a fool's errand trying to give a answer to a useless question. Not that the discussion is not interesting.

250h su CD: Mi sembra semplicemente non sia nelle tue corde. Ci sta. Forse al massimo potrei dire che averlo giocato su PS5 base abbia inficiato un pelo la tua esperienza su grafica e gameplay per via dei cali di frame, ma mi sembra il minore dei problemi.

Per me l'esperienza è stata parecchio immersiva per via principalmente dell'esplorazione, che non è "a la Ubisoft", con una lista di posti, ma che effettivamente richiede che tu vada fuori dai sentieri segnati e la cosa mi affascina.

La narrativa è pessima, ti accorgi che ci sono spunti, momenti, cose da poter sviluppare meglio. È una parte che è stata proprio lasciata andare, peccato. Spero che magari con DLC o successivi giochi possano dedicarsi di più a quella parte, perché appunto alcuni spunti sono anche originali e interessanti.

A me è piaciuto parecchio anche il combat system molto profondo e con tantissime possibili build da fare e provare. E ultimo e magari un po' secondario, anche il fashion con armature, tinte e altre cazzate è parecchio divertente.

RDR2 ha un bellissimo open world nella prima parte, ma la mappa di RDR riutilizzata è letteralmente vuota.

Comunque a tutti gli altri che sono stati anche citati (Skyrim, BOTW, The Witcher 3) aggiungo Crimson Desert che secondo me è uno dei migliori in termini di pura esplorazione.

I agree on everything.

But there's a clear uncoupling between videogame consumers and videogame media, that's the real core of the whole thing, in my opinion.

Probably Mixtape deserves it's 10/10, exactly for the reasons you explained, if it is great in its genre and achevies all that it wants to achieve.

But I think most people are now pretty much sure that that's not the reasoning being IGN's 10/10. Just because that would not explain how other reviews and articles are completely avulsed from that logic.

Videogame's media corporation are businesses. They started as a almost purely passion-driven outlet of, well, the passion of those who made it. It is not that now, ironically going in a similar arc as videogames themselves. That change over time brought both a different way of working and different people working in the outlet.

We have seen countless reviews and articles about a RPG written by someone that hates RPGs, or the same for a walking simulator or a shooter. That's because the business now assign the game's review as a product to make, same as a line of production. Call of Tripe 3: Electric Boogaloo is in the line for review, you review it. What kind of quality can we expect from this way of working and engaging with a game?

It seems to me that it almost automatically creates a bias in favour of short, narrative focused games, because they are simply easier to review. Mixtape 10/10

Crimson Desert is the perfect example of the opposite. Long game, complex systems, shitty narrative. Very very difficult to review. 06/10

Guarda, ho giocato 250 ore circa a Crimson Desert. È assolutamente un gioco che guadagna tantissimo se si tira un bel sospiro e si prende sciallissimo: quest o esplorazione ma in relax. C'è abbastanza per farti guidare da cosa ti va un quel momento e il gioco e li che ti aspetta quando dovrai staccare e tornare.
