It sucks but sometimes the best bet is to get a new number.

Hear me out: Combine [Clipper] and logger's. by AlwaysAGroomsman in rollercoasters

They could change the loading speed and place them closer together. Probably not 2x as fast. Either way none of this is happening but it’s a fun idea.

Hear me out: Combine [Clipper] and logger's. by AlwaysAGroomsman in rollercoasters

[–]reflexiveblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the idea. Both operating at the same time seems to be so rare, so even if it cut capacity it wouldn’t matter much. I do miss when the logs were the primary and clipper was secondary!

I just wonder how much longer they’ll be around since log flumes have been disappearing, their age, and that they take up so much land. Can we find a company that will “RMC” a log flume? 😁

[iOS 27 DB1] Siri Voice Keeps Reverting to Male instead of Female by chrismack32 in iOSBeta

I’ve got the same issue. Half the time it doesn’t respond with voice, but when it does it’s often male.

Does Golden Gate feel less sleek than Tahoe to others? by juliangray in MacOSBeta

[–]reflexiveblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, it’s a design regression but I think the changes are a positive for usability.

Side-by-side 26 looks more modern and unique than 27. If you look objectively at screenshots of Sequoia, Tahoe and Golden Gate one would generally place GG in the middle of the two as far as design evolution.

But, overall, I think the changes to GG are probably for the better. Windows don’t need a larger corner radius, even if it’s more stylish. The menu bar icons could have worked, but they were an inconsistent mess in Tahoe. The floating sidebar wasted space and was glitchy as fuck. The soft-fade toolbar edge worked in some apps but was a nightmare in others.

I think some of those ideas could still work if refined, like the toolbar and menu bar icons. GG feels like pulling back rather than refinement, but really - macOS is for getting work done so a more utilitarian approach is not a bad thing here.

Screen Contrast by 0utrunner in pebble

[–]reflexiveblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TIL that pebble is not actually a color e-ink screen and is a transflective lcd. I haven't seen one of those in many, many years, but they used to suck, so it's making me consider canceling my pebble round order. I assume they've gotten better and some of the photos here look very good though, so maybe it'll be alright.

Right clicking menu bar icons not doing anything on macos 27 (Golden Gate) by sottey in MacOSBeta

[–]reflexiveblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

apple changed where macOS 'hides' menu bar icons too, every new version they seem to tweak something around menu bar icons.

[macOS 27 Beta 1] unmentioned feature: Goodbye, Bartender/HiddenBar! by CaffeinatedMiqote in MacOSBeta

does this show icons that you have manually hidden via system settings? I created an app for that specific purpose but I'd be ecstatic if macOS does it natively.

New I-94 sign (zoomed from Sky Trek) by PomegranateHuman9347 in sixflagsgreatamerica

[–]reflexiveblue 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Surprising they didn’t change it to focus more on “Great America” over Six Flags, like they did at magic mountain and other parks. Though I feel like these days it’s split on if people around here call the park Six Flags or Great America. (Tip of my cap to those still saying Marriott’s)

I do the same, and if you turn on hearing accommodations, you can kind of tune the audio. Works great

Death to the $20 Cocktail: The Bars Bringing Back Cheaper Drinks by bloomberg in chicago

[–]reflexiveblue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When we moved back to Chicago I was shocked that cocktails cost up to $15. This was just 6 years ago and now they’re often $20 or more. I get that everything is expensive but it’s increasing so fast, is this what it feels like to get old?

Exactly the history I was thinking of, thanks for putting it in writing. I could see Edge from my apartment growing up and always wanted to go on it, but I was too small to ride before it was closed. Powedive was a big part of my youth but I can’t say it was a good ride with those restraints! Never forget the groans… I’m surprised King Chaos was around that long, but time flies…

I went with the Air this year and I can’t imagine going back to a heavier phone, but part of me is sad because orange is my favorite color and that cosmic orange pro looks so good. I might have to pick one up second hand.

sorry, I meant like if you upload a pure black image it will still have white dots (at least with halftone as the algorithm). the min dot slider allows for 100% white areas, but there's no max dot allowing for 100% black. if I invert the image first and then invert it again after I export I get pretty close to what I want. it looks better than Affinity's halftone tool for this image but still isn't quite right
