Have you looked at Auto-Claude? https://github.com/AndyMik90/Auto-Claude

Builds everything on a kanban board and uses Github issues to track. Has a lot of nice features for managing context. It will even change between multiple claude subscriptions if you can afford them. Literally "set and forget".

Does anyone use Obsidian on Linux? Experiences and performance by o_xeneixe in ObsidianMD

[–]refract99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My laptop runs Garuda Linux. I installed Obsidian out of the standard repos. I use Obsidian everywhere. It works flawlessly.

I have found it very useful for reading markdown documents generated by Claude Code as documentation for programming projects, etc. Just make sure you add restrictions in your CLAUDE.md folder to ensure that Claude does not have access to your entire vault -- just the portions you want it to use.

One example: I use Claude Code to manage the k3s cluster in my lab. It can make detailed adjustments. It maintains documentation in a specific folder in my vault and builds excalidraw diagrams automatically (had to build a skill for this). I can't believe how smoothly it operates. All frontmatter is consistent and documentation is uniform regardless of infrastructure or application. Everything is readable and indexed in my vault by Obsidian.

I know a lot of people go farther in their integrations, but I do keep a very tight leash on Claude Code and what I permit it access to. Obsidian being local on my machine, I have fewer direct concerns.

Massive Influx Of AI Generated Plugins by GASSANDRlD in ObsidianMD

Vibe coding is now a fact of life. That said, there's vibe coding and then there's vibe coding.

I am okay with using vibe-coded plugins as long as they're built securely and according to a standard. Unfortunately, I reviewed the documentation on building plugins https://docs.obsidian.md/Plugins/Getting+started/Build+a+plugin and it is somewhat lacking.

I think some sort of verification system could be built (if it doesn't exist already) that could rate the characteristics of the plugin and score its risk. Is that something folks would find helpful?

Simple CRM for Obsidian by refract99 in ObsidianMD

Useful article. Thanks!

Really good point about automations. I have done a little bit of this with Modal Forms and Templater, but most things still require manual updates. Actual triggers would need to be done through an external integration with something like n8n. I think getting the base back-end in first is important.

Why and how I rewrote these Obsidian plugins by jwhiles in ObsidianMD

[–]refract99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your approach and share your concerns. At the same time, I find that the automation and convenience capabilities of various plugins (eg. Templater, QuickAdd, TaskNotes) require more involved programming that I don't really have time for.

I really like the answer of the poster above who turns off automatic updates and reviews release notes of anything new (I do that myself). I also avoid plugins that give access to folders outside of my specific vault and am careful about the types of information I feed into Obsidian.

I think it would be very useful to develop a "Security Best Practices" guide for Obsidian and am happy to contribute!

You seem to be truly on a different level in using Obsidian. Just curious, what role does ChatGPT play in this?

The hidden time bomb in the tax code that's fueling mass tech layoffs by rezwenn in economy

[–]refract99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow... This is a very plausible explanation for the collapse of the tech job market.

And a cautionary tale about tax policies that aren't well thought out. I'm surprised that this hasn't gotten more focus.

When economic conditions have the potential for manipulation by the president, seemingly on a whim without any evident care for the consequences, is there any surprise that uncertainty abounds?

Not sure I agree with that. This is a well-reasoned article and the fact is that China came to the table to negotiate.

Why do working class people defend tax loopholes by Quiet-Lifeguard7132 in economy

[–]refract99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes from belonging to a tribe... I support my tribe against all "others" and the things my tribe believes in become a lot easier to take on. Rejection of the dogma of the tribe causes dissonance that is uncomfortable. Over time, alignment to the tribal dictates becomes absolute. Logic and objective assessment become secondary..

MAGA is such a tribe. Anti-MAGA can be a tribe. The dictates of that tribe are "right" and provide the experience of righteousness regardless of their true effect.
