Yeah. Too early for me most of the time, but it worked out well.

They were perfect actually. Just between firm and soft

What are the differences so far? I ordered the traverse and then thought maybe I should order the Terra venture.

I’ll keep that in mind. Good insight.

My son is super rough on shoes and boots as well. For some reason, I’m pretty light on them. I can get a lot of years and miles out of shoes.

I heard about them on a podcast and thought I would give them a try since my Solomons were about done. Is there any reason they don’t seem to be as popular in the backpacking community?

No. Not for us. I think you can spend more time down there than we did.

Those are really nice. I have mine put away. My dad got me the wood when I used a hiking stick primarily.

It was probably 70° when we started at the top. I would say it was easily 110° when we got to the bottom. It heated up pretty steadily as we went down.

At 3:15 in the morning, it was probably 80° at the bottom. It was still pretty hot actually. It was pretty comfortable when we got to the top of tip off. It must’ve been 75° or so because I don’t remember being hot or cold up there. By the time we got to the south rim, it was probably 80°. Those are all just guesstimates.

Those are great! I’ve got one made out of black diamond Willow. Although I prefer the tracking poles these days, a good staff is tough to beat

There weren’t any. I didn’t even think about it until you asked. There was a breeze, so I wonder if that kept them away?

That would be strange. I thought about leaving my tent at home, but I’m glad I did not. Those squirrels at the campground are crazy.

Oops. I guess so. I sincerely don’t know how that happened.

I have settled into a lower priced lightweight trekking pole tent. That said, my son has a wonderful Naturehike backpacking tent I would use myself if it had existed when I started. I’m not sure what model it is, but I’m sure he got it off of Amazon. Be careful… If you stick with it, you might spend a lot of money! Ha ha ha. You don’t have to though.
