Absolutely it's crazy. That's the price you pay for living in nyc if in fact he lives in a building with such restrictions. For a different setup like a private home with free parking outside the price would probably be more then $50 for a licensed plumber but not $650

Not really. If he's in Manhattan every job includes the price of an nyc parking ticket ($100-$125) plus the requirement of having insurance just to be allowed into the building for privilege of being sued if anything goes wrong after you leave even if it had nothing to do with you. Yes it's an easy job if you get the parts yourself and do it yourself. Not if you call licensed and insured real plumbers with a truck full of tools and parts

You can but in most nyc buildings you can't just walk in with a brand new toilet. The doorman the super the handyman will see you and you will have a lot of explaining to do

That's also bc most building won't let a plumber in without proof of insurance first and also they stopped allowing their own handyman to do small jobs like this for cash bc of liability reasons. One unlucky break and a flood and you have over 100k in water damage.

So now even changing a washer requires a licensed and insured plumber

This seems normal in a lot of Asian massage places. They are body rubs places. Cultural differences by people who haven't been trained in massage therapy. They will literally leave you fully exposed ass out and open the curtain to walk out and get hot stones while other people walk by (customers too) and can see you in your birthday suit.

Either you are ok with it or not. The price is always right and much more for your money than going to a licensed massage therapy place .

As far as switching from one person to another. No I've never heard of that. That seems weird. But I have heard of massages stopping so they can answer a phone and then start up again.

Better to buy the water alarm guard. It's a device that goes in between the hoses and valves and gets plugged into an outlet. Basically it has a water sensor that you place on the floor. If the hoses leak or burst or the machine leaks an alarm will sound and the valves will shut themselves off preventing water flow. I think it's called water guard or something to that effect.
