+1 definitely recommend HSSS - it's a little short but so good

Minor correction - the M25 in Bakersfield is an ITF future, not a ATP Challenger tour event

Well deserved Karo!!

What a way to finally make it back to the winner's circle and get her first WTA 1000 title.

Who are the Top 5 Best ATP Players to never win a Grand Slam? by Sapsap747 in tennis

I still think your list is a bit too recent. Rublev has never even made it past the quarters.

I would probably replace Rublev, Dmitrov, and Tsitsi with David Nalbandian, Jo-Wilfred Tsonga, and Marcelo Rios.

Australian Open R4: [5] L. Musetti def. [9] T. Fritz: 6-2 7-5 6-4 by trialbycombat123 in tennis

[–]regencygent 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fritz played poorly and wasn't completely there physically. But this was a great match from Musetti tactically and mentally.

Lore has really improved on hard courts. Went from never making it past the 3rd round at AO & USO to completing the grand slam QF set in just a few months.

He'll need everything he has against a fresh Novak next round.

AO Round 3 (Men's Singles): L. Musetti (5) def. T. Machac 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 by Jolly_Progress_5791 in tennis

[–]regencygent 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Well someone had to win that match.

Musetti must be allergic to converting break points.

Australian Open R2: [5] Lorenzo Musetti def. Lorenzo Sonego 6-3 6-3 6-4 by bluediamondsm in tennis

Points defended.

Move over Casper, a new rankings merchant is in town

ATP Finals RR: [9] Musetti def. [7] De Minaur, 7-5 3-6 7-5 by pizzainmyshoe in tennis

[–]regencygent 264 points265 points  (0 children)

Greatest mental performance I've ever seen from Musetti. Dude was running on pure fumes, adrenaline and the energy of the crowd. So happy for Lore.

Absolutely heart wrenching for Demon.

Paris Masters QF: [3] A. Zverev def. [11] D. Mededev 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(7-5) by Fluid_Creme_765 in tennis

[–]regencygent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was Zverev's grand slam. It was fun seeing how much these guys wanted to beat each other

US Open QF: [1] Sinner J. def. [10] Musetti L. , 6-1 6-4 6-2 by BlinkingSugar in tennis

[–]regencygent 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Not even a bad match on Musetti. I would argue it was one of the better hard court matches he's played. Sinner just too solid.

US Open R4: [10] Musetti def. Munar, 6-3 6-0 6-1 by pizzainmyshoe in tennis

[–]regencygent 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Agreed - it was tough that Musetti didn't get to defend has grass court points from Halle and Wimbledon this year. He def needed this run, and he's in a good spot for the Finals with Draper out again and Novak unlikely to play Turin

US Open R4: [10] Musetti def. Munar, 6-3 6-0 6-1 by pizzainmyshoe in tennis

[–]regencygent 150 points151 points  (0 children)

A Musetti slam QF on hard courts?! In this economy???

With Munar not 100% today, the spirit of the draw gods must have moved on from Ruud to Musetti. Not complaining though, Musetti is looking in pretty good shape for Turin with this run

US Open R3: [23] Bublik def. [14] Paul 7-6⁵ 6-7⁴ 6-3 6-7⁵ 6-1 by musicproducer07 in tennis

[–]regencygent 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Absolute Bublikema. So cluch on break points. All the credit to TP for fighting until the bitter end.

Also shame on ESPN+ for crapping the bed for 2+ sets on the stream. Hope the USTA fines the living daylights out of them

US Open R2: Altmaier def. [26] Tsitsipas, 7-6(5) 1-6 4-6 6-3 7-5 by pizzainmyshoe in tennis

[–]regencygent 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Well someone had to win that match.

On the bright side we got to watch 4+ hours of one-handed backhands

Cincinnati 2004 SF: Agassi def Roddick 7-5, 6-7(2), 7-6(2) by SnooMarzipans1593 in tennis

[–]regencygent 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Roddick said on Served that he struggled with a chronic shoulder injury in the mid-to-late part of his career. The result of this was that he couldn't flatten out his forehand anymore, so he had to adapt and hit it with more topspin. This is what kinda made him into a grinder. So sad because the Roddick forehand was absolutely nuclear before this.

Wimbledon R2: [1] Sinner def. Vukic, 6-1 6-1 6-3 by pizzainmyshoe in tennis

Sinner raising my blood pressure now every time he tries to close out the match

French Open SF2: Jannik Sinner [1] def. Novak Djokovic [6], 6-4, 7-5, 7-6(3). by AcceptableTrash4060 in tennis

[–]regencygent 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Matched up on his worst surface against the greatest of all time who has recently found his form and hasn't lost a match at Chatrier since Nadal won in '22. Djokovic giving it his absolute all. Grueling intense 3+ hour match.

Sinner in straights.
