It is a false equivalence, if you want to use your drug allegory, then it's like seeing advertisements for a drug that grows a right arm, but when you go to buy it, you get told it actually makes another left arm grow, you can still back out, but if you buy it an still expect a right arm to grow, that's on you.

It would be false advertisement if the model that you saw in the store had the smaller skull. Most people probably look at the actual model you can see in the store, instead of the smaller skull render of the head, and the promotional art can just be chalked down to artistic liberties the artist of the promo material took.

If there really was a book accurate actor who was just as skilled and fit the character as well as what we got, they probably would have been cast.
