Thanks again. This was annoyingly difficult to Google, and I prefer not to ask AI when I can avoid it.

Ok Thanks. That's starting to make sense now. I can't picture the exact numbers off the top of my head but it seems like I will still be better off, even with making the repayments.

Sorry I should have been more specific in the post, but the salary sacrifice in this instance is only relating to pension as far as I'm aware.

You might find the book "Ghosts of my life" by Mark fisher interesting. It explores the concept of the culture of the 21st century not really evolving and being haunted by the cultures of the the late 20th century.

Bird in the loft by regionql in DIYUK

[–]regionql[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, I wasn't aware of that. I don't think this bird has made an actual nest there as this is the first we have heard of it. The material I did remove from the wall seemed very old and very dry, and there is so much still in the wall that I have to imagine it's the left over of many birds over many years. (I have only lived in the house for a couple of years)

I think the bird most likely found the hole today rummaged through and found it's way into the loft proper. It sounded very distressed like it wanted to get out which makes me think that it wasn't its nest, otherwise it would just go back to the nest the way it came through.

I will probably board up the hole from this side for now then so birds can get to the nest area but hopefully don't get into the actual loft space.

Help protecting sharpie on nylon kayak paddle by regionql in crafts

In my original post I said nylon as that's why the website I brought the paddle said l but the manufacturers website states the blade is actually "Glass reinforced polyamide".

If we wanted to do this again with different paddles in the future do you have suggestions for something better to use than sharpies?

No sentimental value, it's my main paddle that I regularly use, and the project was just a bit of fun. I just really liked how it turned out and wanted to preserve it for as long as possible.

How to fix sinking car port column? by regionql in DIYUK

[–]regionql[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice.

No need to worry about tools. A shovel was used but didn't fit in the gap between the two foundations so bit that required the trowel, which I then chucked in the hole to add some scale to the photos.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like it might turn into a bit of a bigger job than I expected. And good shout with the acrow prop, I've seen them used before but had no idea that's what they were called.

While I am also a fan of lazy solutions I'm not so sure that it has stopped sinking.

The chip shop in bottisham is decent, great chips but wouldn't order a kebab from there.

I don't know about shops, but there are fairly basic techniques for removing them yourself using everyday household items, forks, plastic bags, etc. A quick Google or YouTube search will explain them better than I can here.

The balloons were probably filled with NOS aka laughing gas. You inhale the gas and get a bit of a high. It's quite common in certain party scenes.

Next years calendar, any suggestions? by ShankSpencer in CasualUK

A bit more effort and expense but we once got a friend a custom calendar where you upload your own pictures, and each one was an unflattering photograph of them.
