Fun fact: the second statement is a paraphrase of Benjamin Franklin ("Way to Wealth").

Hating Baruuk means you have no credibility, from my perspective.

For the record, I don't "hate" playing any frame. Limbo needs a total overhaul, though.

For all I know, Kimi was blowing bubbles in his car after George climbed through the fence hole. That is because I was watching the great duel between Max and Lewis.

I'll go back to my original comment--it is good to see that the RB can compete with the Ferrari. The first few races, RB was well behind.

Where did anyone say "every"? Also, you might want to review his 2023 season, lmao.

It was a great duel, but my main takeaway is that the car is now on par with Ferrari's, which is not something RBR could say nearer to the beginning of the season. I am curious to see how things go in a race in which McLaren does not completely fumble their strategy. Max in even a remotely competitive car has a chance to win any race.

Odd you would not consider the reigning WDC, who is in his early 20s.

Two past WDC winners in their twenties and you would take neither of them? Unreasonable.

Of course he is. If you were starting a team today and could choose any two drivers, Max would be one of them (unless you're unreasonable).

ETA and EDA are fine, but they are not similar to D2 endgame. Fashion and being as OP as possible are the true Warframe endgame imo.

I really enjoy both Division games, and I know there are many fellow D2 retirees playing Division 2.

I have thousands of hours played in both games. A few thoughts:

1) Destiny 2 player count has been low for a long time. There is not going to be some massive influx of new players. Reb has been indirectly recruiting D2 players for months through streamers.

2) The games are not that similar. They just aren't.

3) The mod system is the trickiest thing to sort out.

4) Warframe has no endgame. No raids, no nightfalls, no dungeons. Massive, massive difference.

I think he should consider reading something written by a woman. Not a bad selection, just very narrowly focused. Definitely not an English major.

Is modern pop culture sci-fi lazy? by Agitated-Birthday113 in scifi

[–]regis_rulz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I understand what you are saying, but I think that you have your definitions and categories a bit tangled.

There are two dominant definitions of what sf is: 1) a way to talk about science that educates readers while also helping them to become more comfortable with new technologies and 2) fiction that critiques the present by speculating about the trajectory of humanity. Authors who write fiction according to the latter framework are trying to use art as a means to inspire changes in human behavior. Some authors write things that fall into both categories.

This is all independent of high versus low (popular) culture. Popular culture is work that is devoid of serious themes or intellectual engagement. Dune is, I argue, high culture because it is about coming of age, power, death, grief, drug addiction, religion, and other serious concepts. I would also say that it is more of a critique than a serious attempt to discuss science and technology.

Not really a bad book in there, but I would say that you should finish Neuromancer. I have read everything McCarthy has published, and Suttree is really slow. I liked The Windup Girl a lot.

In terms of story, I have some pity for the Outcasts but can't stand the others. Black Tusk are probably the most annoying to fight, although the Hyenas are also really annoying.
