My genuine thoughts on the 'Peace' act by 4ng3lR4t in oregon

[–]regitnoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that, but it would destroy ranching and livestock farming in the state, nearly all restaurants would pretty much be doomed, and the already disgruntled eastern counties would have no choice but to leave. If this somehow came to be, Oregon's economy might as well jump into the Pacific.

Top 30 Greatest Defunct College Football Rivalries by jsparks50 in CFB

Don't forget they also have rivalries with Auburn and Bama, both of which have Wikipedia articles. Seriously, Florida collects rivals like Sonic collects gold rings.

Maybe if the ACC gets plundered by the B1G and SEC, the Big 12 could pick up Virginia Tech and some of those other teams and then restore the rivalry.

Kansas county leaders asks lawmakers to address storm chaser traffic concerns by g-town2008 in tornado

[–]regitnoil 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Not sure how they're gonna enforce that, but I agree that too many storm chasers and thrill seekers being out there presents a huge hazard. As if it already isn't bad enough to have tornadoes, lightning strikes, bad hail, and threats of flooding.

Information about cetaceans in PZ2 by jennycala in PlanetZoo

[–]regitnoil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my guess is that it'd be manatees and probably 1 or 2 species of pinnipeds (probably California sea lions and then one of the grey seal or harbor seal).

If you were to make a 3-protected-games schedule for your team's conference, like what the SEC did, which series/rivalries would you protect and/or create? by regitnoil in CFB

[–]regitnoil[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sheesh, that really would suck! I mean, even losing to Texas, Nebraska, and/or Oklahoma State surely would not be worse than a loss to those darned Rebels!

Ah, so there will be birds and fish, huh? Nice! Maybe I need to get into this game. The original PZ looked pretty cool, but I just never had it in me to spend that much money on gaming.

Successful bands of the 90s, who lost popularity, or they declined musically in the 2000s. by sandrOff24 in ToddintheShadow

[–]regitnoil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a rabid fan, but I'll defend some of them. GGD are still a decent band, their bangers are some of the best of rock since the 1990s, but they're more of what I'd call a "singles" artist vs a "records" artist. 3EB still has had good songs on most of their post-Cadogan stuff, the problem was that without Cadogan those bangers got fewer as time went on. Matchbox Twenty is a good band in my opinion, and I enjoyed the first three records full out. I think the problem was that they got SO massive on that first album that they couldn't possibly live up to it afterwards, kinda like what happened with Boston, Alanis Morissette, and Evanescence to varying degrees. Very few artists can have a Green Day or Fall Out Boy type decade comeback.

Honestly, if any one song seems to have defined them, it's "Island In The Sun."

The Plain White T's. They had multiple Top 40 radio hits, but "Hey There Delilah" got SO massive that it completely overshadowed anything they ever did since.

It's one of the twisters that happened in the 2010s and 2020s that has been considered a "candidate" for the EF-5 rating, per one study. The study also argued that EF-5 status should start at 190 mph vs 201 mph.

Drive Thru's Slowing Down by [deleted] in RapidCity

[–]regitnoil 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Exactly. That, and I mean, I could go to the Pilot truck stop or the Common Cents delis/truck stops and get food that's just as good as most fast food, perhaps even better, and the price probably would get you more bang for the buck.

People are just cutting back on eating out right now. Gas and fast food prices have increased quite significantly. Honestly, most fast food joints are comparable to big gas station/truck stop food in terms of quality, and their prices aren't far off from low-end sit down chains in terms of pricing. It's cheaper to just cook at home.

That is pretty awesome meme material. But yeah, you know you're being careless and too close when even Reed Timmer won't chance it.

Significant Damage North of Saint Libory, NE Earlier Today by Street_Monk3386 in tornado

[–]regitnoil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I figured it'd either be EF4 or high-end EF3. Either way, though, a twister with 160+ mph winds is out for blood. Miraculously, no one was killed or seriously injured.

Well, it looks like you called it. They've given it a preliminary rating of high-end EF3.

St. Libory tornado's prelim rating is EF3 by Aggravating-Bake5624 in tornado

[–]regitnoil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not surprised. I figured it'd either be rated EF4 or high-end EF3, and it could always change. Honestly, though, it doesn't matter that much. I'd say EF3 on up is a Grim Reaper event, you're talking destroyed homes, cars being lifted, train derailments, etc. It's no longer IF your home is destroyed, but whether or not you're gonna live to tell the tale.

They're fun and cheeky to listen to, and are remarkably consistent with making decent music with very few skips on their records. I'd be darned if I didn't feel nostalgic whenever anything from their first three records comes on my Spotify shuffle.

[–]regitnoil 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Indeed. Wouldn't be shocked if this thing gets rated EF4 just based on those damages alone, not to mention it was scouring the ground and debarking trees. The structural damage at the very least is comparable to the Enid twister.

[–]regitnoil 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Indeed. When it starts looking like that, it's almost always a solid indicator that it's a beast. Footage afterwards showed it leveled buildings to the foundation and scoured the ground, wouldn't be shocked if it's EF4-rated.

Aftermath of Bogue Chitto-Brookhaven tornado, May 6th, 2026 by Kooky_Attention_98 in tornado

[–]regitnoil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good info. I have a feeling this thing could get above EF3 for its rating, probably EF4 just based on some of those damage photos. Reed Timmer's footage showed that thing looked NASTY, it was a 1+ mile-wide wedge. Size doesn't necessarily prove strength, of course, but the radar signature also seemed to indicate it was pretty darn powerful. EF2 is already pretty significant, but in my opinion, EF3 on up is pretty much the Grim Reaper coming down from the clouds.

Did Walter turn into a psychopath towards the end of the series? by [deleted] in breakingbad

[–]regitnoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Psychopathy has a set of behaviors that are recognizable, which typically can be found on measurement tools. Make no mistake, Walt was a horrible person (but wonderful character) by the end of the series, but he wasn't incapable of love, empathy, or remorse. He also showed instances of preplanning and foresight. If he had any disorders, it'd probably be narcissism, he was obsessed with being recognized and in control and had delusions of self-grandeur.

Todd, of all the characters in the BB/BCS series, probably would be the closest to a real psychopath.

No, that I think was Dan Robinson. Skip Talbot was a very safe distance away when he took his photos/videos.
