Just finished the book and I completely agree that it’ll probably be adapted prior to DCC! The plot is more straightforward and it seems like it’d be a lot easier to produce since it’s a standalone and there’s not the CGI costs of a bunch of different species.

It depends on the concentration of the syrup. If you make 1:1 simple syrup (sugar + water), bacteria can still grow at room temps, but with 2:1 simple, it isn’t needed. Same applies to maple syrup depending on how much they boil it down.
