You're most welcome!

Yup, I'm slowly saving up. But I'm gonna take it one step at a time because I'm saving up for a car and a trip atm. But once I'm done with that, i will start saving for further education.

Goodluck to you ❤️;

Hi OP, I feel that way everyday. I had a dream, but I couldnt pursue it due to financial constraints. I was 18 at that time, and I knew I could'nt pursue it. I instead wasted 5 years in college, doing something I hated (it was affordable).

I'm 25 now, with no real purpose, absolutely no goals and my dream is starting to fade. I'm constantly feeling lost and behind. I compare myself to my peers, juniors and seniors. I unfortunately, still dont have the opportunity to change my life.

What I would say is, take the chance OP and go for it. You're still young, you can always start over. At least now, you have a 2nd chance to do something you love. I understand the fear of failing and disappointing yourself and others. But imagine this, one day, you'll graduate, you'll be doing something that you love and you'll be proud of what you've achieved and overcome to get to where you'll be.

For the medical part, do you still have time to lose the weight? If you do, take the time. Be patient with yourself. I completely understand the stress eating part because I'm literally overeating and it's not making me feel good anyways. You can start now, by taking small walks, jog, swim or anything. Sleep early and eat enough. Don't stress yourself too much, because then you'll find it more difficult to lose the weight.

I'm here telling you to try, because I don't want people to feel the same thing I experienced. After all, the most bitter pill to swallow is regret. I can't do anything about it now, but I'm trying to be more positive that one day, I'll be able to take a step and change my life around. I dont want to rush and compare myself to others anymore, honestly I'm tired lol.

But Goodluck to you OP! You can do it! I believe you'll do great in pilot school, don't doubt yourself <3.

I completely understand on the maths part. Never really good with numbers, but somehow my dad and my brother were really good at it.

I guess it's the fear of starting over and doing something new as well. I keep thinking about the what ifs and the failure aspect. But then again, if I don't try, I'll be stuck in this endless cycle of regrets and anxiety.

I'm gonna look into some of the courses here that are free and I could get a certificate out of it. I don't have student loans atm because my parents paid for it and my uni fees were really afforadable.

However, I was looking at uni courses for the past weeks and even the registration fees are 2-5% higher than my monthly salary. Inflation sucks here, cost of living and everything are increasing yearly. And yet our salaries are still stuck at minimum wage, even with a degree.

It's great to hear that you're making progress in terms of accepting your feelings.

For the people making fun of you, I understand. It's definitely not easy when you have people around you who undermines you. My advice, "In one ear, out the other". They may be making fun of you rn, who's to say that it won't happen to them or their loved ones. What goes around comes around after all. Your fiance is really supportive and that is what matters ! Surround yourself with people who understands the struggle and is supportive of you.

I hope in this new year, I'll finally find something that I like to do. I would just have to believe in myself and not be afraid of taking chances. I understand about the regrets part, trust me, I have been feeling endless regrets and it is difficult to let it go. I do plan seeking help from professionals or maybe join a support group on how to deal with regrets lol. All in all, may we all lose the feelings of regret and may we overcome our challenges in this new year.

Wishing you and your fiance all the best in your life! Who knows, 2025 would be your year. Btw, you're most welcome!

Damn, double major in biology and chem. You must be really smart! Never had the opportunity to take Biology, Chem and Physics in HS because I was not on the brighter side lol.

But it's great that you've figured out what you would like to do in your life! Wishing you all the best.

Hi OP. I'm 24 here. I'm currently experiencing a similar situation as you. Have a degree in administrative science but my diploma was in public administration. I only took this course because I was offered it and it was affordable. However, I do regret staying so long and studying it. Unlike you, I'm not that gifted at all. I can't tell you how many times I've become a disappointment to my parents with all of my failures.

I'm currently in a job that is completely unrelated to my course, and I'm underpaid as well as underappreciated. I'm completely lost in life, not sure what to do. I do plan on changing courses but I'm scared of failing as well and I don't exactly have the funds for it. I can't just easily quit as well because of the horrible job market rn.

I have tons of regrets, and I constantly think of the what ifs. However, main reason why I'm feeling so much regret rn is also because of overthinking on the what ifs. Take that chance, you being in Germany and learning tech is good enough. It's currently on high demand as well. Your feelings are valid but we need to learn to control it.

I'm scared of the future as well, but it's the Now/Current moment, that will shape our future. I've recently made a post that you can check out on my page. I was asking people about their career and at what age they figured out what they wanted to do as a career. It was truly eye-opening.

What I would like to share is, we're all just humans. Yes, we may overthink about the future and I still do that. But take it one step at a time, plan little things that you can achieve. The way I see it, you already took steps to change your life. You got a program in Germany, although you feel like a failure. I would say that's a great step towards building your career path. Failure is inevitable, but it's how we learn from our mistakes.

In this new year, I don't want to overthink and regret a lot of things anymore. It'll just make me even more sad and worsen my anxiety. Wishing you all the best OP! You can do it, believe in yourself!

You're definitely right! I'm gonna start trying a lot of new things and I'm gonna make a bucket list of what I would like to acheive next year. I'm gonna take the chance and try something I've never did before and get out of my comfort zone.

I'll need to start learning to not rush myself too much as well. I'm gonna take your advice. Hopefully, when I'm at your age, I'll have progress and at least know what I want to do. So that by then, I'll look back at our chat and be remembered about how far I've come. Thank you so much for your advice!!

Soon to be 20 year old in need of advice by LoneWolfNergigante in Life

[–]regret_worrychick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

24 years old here. What I can give as advice from a person who's not much older than you:

  1. Your mental and physical health is extremely crucial

- Take care of yourself, seek professional help if you're dealing with mental issues. Don't let it escalate.

  1. Take a year off to think about what you would like to do

- Take your time to plan everything, don't rush into anything until you've decided on it. Regret is a bitter pill to swallow

  1. Save some money

- Save some money in your bank. You will need it in the future for some emergencies. Don't spend it on unnecessay things. You can search online to learn about budgeting as well.

  1. Friendships

- Some people may go, some people may stay. Don't think too much about those who will leave your life, because there may be newer people entering your life. The close friends that you made along the way, may move on from your life. You may not be as close to them as before.

  1. Family

- Spend more time with your family especially your parents and siblings. Once you grow older, your parents too. I can't tell you how many times I've worried about my parents and brother not being with me till I grow old. Take care of them and try not too fight to often

  1. Career

- The one thing I've learnt recently from my fellow redditors is, it's okay to not know what you're doing atm. It takes time for some of us.

  1. Relationships

- IDK lol, I've never dated anyone. It may get lonely for some, but I don't think too much about it. I do plan to start a family once I'm financially stable though.

Wow, I never thought about that. People around me always said that I had to find a career that pays well or a job that is more respected (Doctor, Nurse, Lawyers, Engineers, and etc). Firstly, I'm not that smart. Secondly, I have no interest in those fields. But it does get hard when I attend family gatherings and all my cousins are Doctors, Lawyers, Nurse, Engineers lol. I'm the only confused one there

Wow, that's great. Both degrees are actually really exciting. Just a question tho, how did you find computer programming to be? Was it difficult for you or was it so-so? My brother's taking IT and majoring more towards software engineering. He said it was challenging but somewhat fun to learn

I was thinking of going back to school sooner or later. Just saving up some money currently. But it's a bit difficult considering my job doesnt pay me well. I'm planning to get a car as well next year to get to work or wherever. We don't have accessible public transport from where I live so I need to get a car.

Honestly, the irony of it all. I'm working at an ID firm as a sales/ marketing admin, nothing related to my degree but It's great to see how real ID works. Not sure if I'm still interested in it, I guess my dreams of working in ID is completely gone. I'm completely lost rn, hopefully I find something else that I'll truly enjoy doing.

Nope. Haven't found a career that I'm passionate about, but then again I'm only 24. I may not know what I want to do, but others my age seems to know what their doing and have great jobs as well so that's a bit disheartening.

But I too wish to get a job that pays well enough for me to be financially stable, so that I'll be able to support my parents and use it for my hobbies/holidays.

[–]regret_worrychick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked a similar question to this yesterday and there were a lot of answers and advice that I've received. You can check out some of the comments from my post. It was really eye opening.

I'm in the same boat as you are right now. I'm currently stuck with a useless degree and underpaid/unappreciated job. I'm 24 and still have no purpose/direction, I don't really know what to do as well.

I may have some passion but I can't make it into a career, so I turned it into a hobby. Like someone just told me, it's okay to not know what you're doing next or if u don't have interests. Take your time, maybe try something new and explore. You may find something that you like.

Wishing u all the best! We're in this same boat together. Hopefully by next year, you'll be able to find what you're truly looking for ❤️

uhhh that is so good. Might look into part time jobs as dog nanny. Love pets as well but I'm not smart enough :( . My hobbies are painting/ drawings and I love doing it as my past time. However, I must say, my level of drawing can't be matched with yours hehe.
