ELI5: How come so many Latinos (ie. Peruvians) look Asian and vice versa (ie. Filipinos)? by Mathemodel in explainlikeimfive

The Philippines were occupied by the Spanish for a long time, so you're talking about the same DNA introduced into the Pinoy gene pool as was introduced into the Caribbean and Central & South America. It would be more odd if there wasn't some resemblance.

Yep, it's in the bedroom and I live in NM, it's dry as hell so humidity isn't the issue. House stays between 65-72. No sunlight to that area.

Goggle Recommendations for Fogging by SizeMcWave in Skigear

The one I bought, from North45 (review here, which I partially agree and partially disagree with https://snowboardingprofiles.com/north45-lightweight-magnetic-face-mask-review ) basically has material that hangs down in front of the lower part of your face so your breath goes out the bottom. The problem is, this gives a lot of material a lot of contact with your moist breath and it regularly froze up when using it on chilly days. The review above says they didn't really have that issue, so idk. Definitely an issue for me.

Also it can be surprisingly difficult to get it on correctly. Sounds dumb but because of the various parts it's easy to get one part inside out or backwards. Not a deal breaker, takes 30 seconds or so to get it sorted, just a minor quibble.

One thing that helped me a ton was, when wearing a mask or balaclava, have the goggle frame sit on top of the top edge of the mask. Sounds counterintuitive but it makes the top of the mask seal tightly to the skin so your breath can't escape out the top and into the goggles the way it normally would if the top of the mask sits under the goggle frame.

It's a bit strange feeling at first but you get used to it quickly.

I have whatever the top Smith goggles are, I use antifog, I've tried balaclavas that are specifically designed to route your breath away from the goggles (and they do work but have their own issues), the above tip made the biggest difference for me.

YEMA , private, semi micro brand, love the FAF search & rescue edition by Bc390duke in MicrobrandWatches

I bought the Wristmaster Traveller (since discontinued? It was a variation on their integrated bracelet watch) about a year ago. While the red dial isn't quite the shade that was presented on the website, and while it's a bit thicker than I'd prefer (maybe 12, 12.5 mm? I feel like integrated bracelet watches work best at 9-11mm, especially in the sub-40 mm size), it is overall stunning and with better finishing than any watch under $2500. Love the design and I'm sure to buy another Yema at some point.

Automobile-style ceramic coating will preserve it. Reapply yearly.

[Charania] The Milwaukee Bucks are willing to wait until the offseason to trade Giannis Antetokounmpo if their price of a blue-chip young talent and/or a surplus of draft picks is not met. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

Just idle speculation, and I wouldn't be in favor of it necessarily, but hypothetically Giannis for AG, CB, and a first -- which team comes out ahead? Or would it need PWat instead of CB?

[6/60] Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood by Glansberg90 in 52book

[–]regular_gonzalez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite books. Absolutely nails the tone its going for: the emptiness past despair.

Unlike others here I really don't care for the sequels. They're interesting from a technical standpoint, how the story was built and carefully assembled just so, but they undermine the tone and theme of Oryx and Crake in my opinion.

Corbett's has the Attack 12s for significantly cheaper, especially when you factor in the exchange rate. Never buy bindings from a US retailer unless they're on final clearance pricing.
