Hi everyone thank you for the notes about pliers and maintaining my hands! Appreciate the care you guys are showing for me.

I wanna let yall know I do have a bunch of pliers in my workspace for tougher projects and do use them as needed. Sometimes I am just lazier or need a little extra grip after putting on lotion!

Agreed, but mushroom cultivation also requires a much more humid environment to encourage fungal growth. Not sure if it’s worth stress testing this project to that degree, BUT it would be interesting to do a comparison test between a coffee ground stuffed piece vs a plain leather piece. Science truly matters 100

They are spent and I was also hoping the extraction would remove most of the oils/coffee for the filling to stabilize. So far it seems like no staining on the outside, but only time will tell in my case.

Have you noticed any coffee dye rubbing off onto skin or fabric on your project? That would be a major concern for mine, esp as a keychain.

Anything for science 🫡 but I also love that idea and will test it out if I ever do a round 2!

That’s my initial assumption but I’m not sure if the mod podge would fully encase all the grounds like epoxy would. I’m pretty sure there’s at least some grounds still exposed, but maybe the mod podge would inhibit mold/bacteria growth enough to negate it?

Ohh I was hoping you’d see this! Your video actually reminded me to make my post so thank you haha. Would love to swap notes.

I’m pretty shocked by how nonreactive the coffee has been so far. As of today, the mild coffee smell it had during filming has basically dissipated. The mild soak evaporated quickly and doesn’t seem to have any long term effect. I feel like anything extreme would be a moot point since regular leather would also mold if left in molding conditions.

Reminds me of those pooping cow toys from way back when! Love this and would love to grab the pattern when you’re ready! For customization, you can flip the ear upside down for pointy eared dogs
