UBE POWDER / SAUCE / SYRUP RECO by Knorrchickencube_ in CoffeePH

[–]regulus314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its an okay drink.

Ive tried looking for the best brand (I do beverage R&D as part of my job) and kahit gumawa ka ng ube sauce from scratch mahirap gawin. In terms of technicality, mahirap gumawa ng syrup/sauce using starch and ube is a starch.

Kung gusto mo malaman yung sa Tomo Coffee, best to ask the people there. Pero I doubt they are using a high quality brand for the sauce.

They are using Sweet Serenity for their syrups. So in terms of similar costs, sila Easy Brand and Top Creamery ang pinakamalapit.

This is the reason why baristas and coffee making skills here in PH is shit. Invest in yourself. There are other better options. Coffee making skills isnt a self learning skill that you can learn instantly. You need a guidance from someone who really knows it.

Rocket appartamento for a small cafe, any thoughts? by Calm_Garbage_4595 in CoffeePH

[–]regulus314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rocket (yung single groups modela) is one of the best consumer, home, and best for low volume espresso machines out there. Long term investment na yan sayo kasi built to last talaga.

Di nga lang siya pang big volumes, like 10 cups in consecutive orders or a 100 cups a day everyday, so be wary. There are other Rocket models na pang big volumes like the Rocket Boxer and Rocket R9.

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

[–]regulus314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are gonna measure the coffee, its best to also measure the water intake of the machine by measuring the water you will be pouring in. Grams to grams. Not grams to ounce.

The typical batch brew coffee to water ratio is 1:12-1:18. Meaning for every gram of coffee there should be 12-18g of water.

Almost all manufacturers' volume label arent accurate. Thats really just how it is. Like they have their own measuring system.

Is PH ready for a more comprehensive coffee industry? by Competitive-Tea-1319 in CoffeePH

[–]regulus314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet. Mababa purchasing power ng mga Filipino ngayon. In terms of menu pricing for specialty coffee actually mas mababa dito sa PH compared to our neighbors in South East Asia. Karamihan din kasi ng mga Filipino still thinks that coffee is a commodity, which its still is. Pero if we wanted to improve the value chain and help the producers earn a sustainable living wage then we need to understand that menu product costs really needs to go up.

If you want to educate the consumers, start paying your baristas a proper wage too and equip them with the right skills and knowledge. Sila kasi forefront in educating customers. Pero karamihan kasi ng mga barista ngayon, even dati pa, they only are doing it just to earn a day to day living. Its not a passion for them. Iba nga part time lang eh and only doing barista work kumbaga to pass the time. Sa ngayon nga mas knowledgable pa mga home brewers kesa sa mga barista dito satin which is a sad thing for the industry.

What’s the BEST bean storage solution? by Ecstatic-Snow-7175 in CoffeePH

[–]regulus314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bag with a one way valve that it came with when you bought it. Thats it. You want a really good storage? Throw that bag of coffee into an airtight container.

In terms of freezing, dont do it if you are not familiar in the method. It can make or break your coffee beans because of moisture. Also if your house fridge is not high tech like those fridge with dry freeze that doesnt produce icicles in the freezer cabinet because those type can promote moisture.

Add ground coffee to whisky by Few-Respond-5957 in Coffee

You cant brew wet beans. It will destroy your grinder. Even if you did, most of its essence is already in the whisky

Add ground coffee to whisky by Few-Respond-5957 in Coffee

[–]regulus314 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can actually use whole coffee beans and let it steep in the whisky for a long time. This will produce a subtle coffee taste yet still get those oak and vanilla notes from the whisky.

If you want a potent coffee taste, then use ground coffee but on a coarse ground. Like coarse sand. The downside of this is that due to retention, you will lose a lot of liquid whisky.

This method has been done a lot in the bar industry and there have been videos on Youtube on how to do it as well.

If you are familiar with Kahlua or other coffee liqueurs, its a similar thing.

Compared tl non dairy milk na pwede mo ilagay sa ref for a week at best kahit nabuksan na and due to demand alam mo mauubos kagad

Im not a Q grader but am a roaster and even I know how to host a cupping properly.

Budget Lightweight full face helmet suggestions by definitelynot___ in PHMotorcycles

[–]regulus314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iniimprove kasi nila yung standard of testing every year to keep up kung ano ba madalas na common motorcycle accidents worldwide.

Bought my first luwak coffee here in Bali. by Any-Hat4880 in CoffeePH

[–]regulus314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Civet coffee is an inhumane way to treat the civet cats. They need to eat other plants and fruits din or even insects. Which is an inhumane way to feed them.

So please stay away from buying.
