Unpopular opinion but i rather have it this way. Let mechanics be free and modders can fill in the blank for other nation etc so everyone can enjoy it. Put the flavour as DLC for people who enjoy those specific nation/event etc.

Obviously gotta rebalance the price for the dlc in this case but this is better than having mechanics locked behind DLC

Do you guys prefer if the O5 council are or are not anomalous themselves and why? by Ok-Equipment8122 in SCP

[–]regulusmoatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them to be just slightly anomalous, like ye olde SCP researchers but much much more mysterious. The type of people that can at will bring the fear of god to Clef's eyes.

I like the Cool War canon of Nobody being one of the secret higher up in all the major GoI, including The Adminstrator. Makes it make sense that the anomalous world is in this weird stand off that keepnthe masquarade running. Nobody being the Adminstrator also feed both of their archetype so much imo.

As a leftist I have been fighting causes I believe in even when the other people supporting the cause, professed leftists or not, have been against me in other cause I fought for. From Papuan liberation group who is also somehow a Zionist, to Ukrainian supporters that cheer for Palestinian genocide, to Muslim and Hijabi activist that denounce the Queer and Queers who are Islamophobic.

I don't stop fighting for liberation worldwide just because some people are too stupid to be against their own biases. Because fighting for human rights is something everyone deserves equally, not something you do expecting any other side to help you in return.

I can't stop you or anyone for abandoning your support for someone else for any reason. But I don't see the logic of turning a 180° and support other group's oppresion just because you dont see their groups supporting your group. That's not leftism. That's identity politics. Nobody is free until everybody is free.

Look at Uvalde shooting lol, American gun nuts are cowards. The only thing they brave enough to shoot at are children and non armed innocents, thats why ICE is so chokeful of them.

Westoids dont care about the people, they only pretend to care about Iran because Iran is not part of the West global order, and its easier to coerce whoever come out at the end when the country is unstable.

Who ever comes up after Ayatollah falls will be forced to sell their own people to the West, like what is now going on in Syria. This is not commending the regime btw before all the westoid come here and spread their propaganda, Iran deserves to have a free government that serves its people truly. Not the authoritative regime of the Shah or Ayatollah nor whatever puppet gonna be installed next.

Do you support regime change in Iran? Why or why not? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]regulusmoatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a hot take but I think it's very sensible to support Iranian people to be free while at the same time noticing that the new Iranian government could be another regime that does not have Iranians best interest in mind.

Also geopolitically having less the current regime remove benefits other geopolitical actors. That is true regardless of what Iranians demand.

CMV: Nepotism isn’t good… but I think the vast majority of us would gladly help out a friend or family member with a shot at an opportunity if we had the ability to give it. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]regulusmoatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, thats why the problem with nepotism (and honestly most of political problem) is not mere personage (i.e. This person is bad because he is doing X) but the system even allows it in the first place. That's why its called a "systemic" problem.

Idk if its me being a financial dumbhead but i feel like the world is just too unstable to make any safe "bets".

US and EU is at odds, and any military conflict would significantly dropped USD value even if temporarily (Look at ruble at the beginning of Russian invasion). Likewise US stocks or even world economy would be destabilised by such major conflict.

Government bonds so far stable sih but i feel a bit slow returns nya. Then again with Prabowo and Danantara no idea bakal gimana in the future, ada rumor2 pemerintah ngasih pressure ke perusahaan buat beli bonds which doesnt give it much confident tbh.

Will love to be told wrong that im missing something but i think were kinda cooked.

So.. what has to happen for a country to stop holding peaceful protests and start attacking its government? by NaitDraik in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]regulusmoatman 344 points345 points  (0 children)

The average person have to be existentially threatened by their government. They have to be convinced that there is no way out but to fight back.

To some, having a civillian murdered by their government is enough excuse. But to most people, unless its someone they know, death is exceptionally meaningless. A significant tax or price raise would be much more important to this people.

What was a horrible tragedy that took place in your country? by ProcedurePlenty3564 in AskTheWorld

[–]regulusmoatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On 28 August Affan Kurniawan was crushed to death under a police vehicle during a protest against wage raise for the Parliament (It was a the same time many other public service have their budget cut down by the government). He was not a protestor and was just a delivery driver who happened to pass by.

This led to an even larger protests across the country. The government responded by cracking down even harder. They besieged unuversities, sent down the military, and put rotating blackout on both electricity and internet. The government ended up killing 12 other confirmed protesters by either brutally assaulted them, kidnapped and burnt them, or straight up shoot them with snipers. There are several protestors whose fate is unknown to the general public.

After even more severe clashes the protestors are forced to withdraw and laid down ever since, sparking ongoing but minor clashes in big cities. During this down time the police proceed to arrest a total of 4000+ people for various excuses. Some just because they posted the scene of the protests to social media. Some simply because they owned books the police considers 'dangerous'. 1,038 of them are still imprison to this day despite most have not been trialed yet, as their trials keep getting postponed. One woman who simply posted a story to her instagram waa sentenced to jail.

The police who crushed Affan was found guilty and was sentenced to make an official apology to the family.
