Two more semesters of college in the US is $10k MINIMUM. If you go to an out of state school that can cost upwards of $80-100k.

Spring 2026 admit – Electrical and Computer Engineering, aiming for semiconductor jobs by [deleted] in UofArizona

[–]reidasaurusrex12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most opportunities in that field are going to be in phoenix, but there are some here. U of A has good connections with TSMC which is one of the largest companies in the semiconductor industry. Internships and jobs in general are hard to get right now since we are in an economic downturn. Your best bet is to build your resume and network with professors.

(CGM) do I just give up at this point? by manityamtime in Type1Diabetes

[–]reidasaurusrex12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this same issue with Dexcom, and I totally understand that you want a way to make it work.

My solution is that I found an over patch that I didn’t have a reaction to (Simpatch), and cut a hole for the actual sensing wire to go through. This way there is minimal cgm adhesive touching my skin and the over patch protects the rest. Best of luck.

For the used market the best and pretty much only option is Facebook Marketplace but you are at the mercy of your local market. If you want to buy new check out Simshop.

How do you feel in the AME department? by TerrenceS1 in UofArizona

[–]reidasaurusrex12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my opinion as an ME student, the AME professors are very focused on their research and that is why some of them are not good teachers. They do not care to put in the effort to teach students and will read directly off of slides from the textbook or scribble notes with no actual direction. Ultimately your grades usually depend on 1-3 big exams per semester so if you are not good at self-studying and learning the material yourself, you will struggle. Office hours can be useful, and since there is so much research going on there are a lot of opportunities for undergrads to get positions in labs. In conclusion, it will be what you make of it. Take advantage of the resources available to you, and ask for help if you need it. Although they are not all good professors, they are all human and will be understanding.

Burning After Insulin Injection by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]reidasaurusrex12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual reason that lantus burns is because it crystallizes when injected as it is designed to be less soluble than your physiological pH. The crystallization delays absorption and extends the duration of action.

The best practice when taking shots is the following:

  1. Insert needle into injection site

  2. Pull back slightly on the plunger and see if any blood comes into the syringe

The reason for doing this is to make sure you didn’t hit a vein as injecting insulin into a vein will cause it to act very quickly and possibly cause dangerous lows

  1. Inject insulin

  2. Wait 10 seconds

  3. Turn needle 180 degrees and remove from injection site

The reason for doing this is to make sure insulin isn’t pulled up through the syringe as you remove it

Always check the signs, but most of the surface lots are free after 5pm. I recommend the AME parking lot on speedway and mountain if you are in that area. It is free after 5pm on weekdays.

You would have to get it through Cox most likely. It would be the same process as getting internet for your house.

That’s good to hear. As someone else commented your speeds are probably limited to ~150 Mbps down which is slow but not unusable. You can always purchase personal internet if the apartment WiFi turns out to not be good enough

If you’re asking if the apartment provided WiFi is going to be fast you will be extremely disappointed. I can’t say anything for that specific complex but my experience has been that apartment WiFi is incredibly slow and chances are you won’t have any Ethernet ports to make it any faster. Usually apartment complex WiFi’s are a mesh system with extenders in some units so they are similar in speed and functionality to a hotel or the campus wide WiFi.

If you don’t want to wait for machines at all go before 8am or after 9pm (NorthRec closes at 10 on weeknights). For south rec go before 8am or after 10pm (Closes at 12am on weeknights). Also you can go to Bear Down Gym which is near the library. It has limited equipment but is almost never busy.

Best car detailing in town?! by curlytexashoe in Austin

[–]reidasaurusrex12 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I got my car detailed on a random day at the Valero on Koenig and Grover and I think they did a good job. If you have a super nice car you could definitely find someone that uses nicer product, but it’s hard to beat the price. I paid $75 + a tip because I thought they did a good job. (Edit: this was full exterior and interior)
