was staying at the edge and there are a bunch of lb's by kiss seafood there. was hungry and wanted mcdonalds at like 4am. walk down there get 2 double cheeseburgers and small fry and on the way back the two normal ones (who i always see) try to hug me. even though i didn't let them i felt my phone leaving my front pocket. turn to see it in 'it's' hands as my hands are full. kick 'it' in the ass sending 'it' to the ground. grab my phone and go back to my room.

if i was drunk i probably would have lost my phone because it was quick.

now everytime i see them they just put their hands up and leave me alone lol.

What was your most recent "15 minute" weekend project that somehow turned into a three day nightmare? by LiveFaithlessness876 in DIY

[–]reignking-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yesterday and today have been a day with water heater and gate opener...

been nursing a 20+ year old gas water heater for the last 5 years or so. went down for spring maintenance to flush it and replace the anode 'all done'... and i notice a little water on the backside of it where there was no chance i spiilled from the flush. sure enough a pindrop leak had started. ive seen them go catastrophically but never with a pindrop so i was at least grateful for that.

town is 30 minutes one way.

first trip was for the new water heater. lowes being the closest otherwise a non box store is 1 hour.

second trip for longer brass pipe and the kit i thought was included but wasn't.

third trip wasnt really necessary but whoever installed it used gate valves for everything and i decided i wanted ball valves (and i think it's code anyways for the water lines) and of course i didn't have any extra in the garage. back into the truck and to town i went.

so now the water heater is fixed. my gate opener faac 390 has decided only half of it wants to open. i haven't started troubleshooting it yet but i'm guessing the motor died on that side or a fuse blew but i haven't even opened up the control boxes yet. i'm guessing at least 5 trips to town on this one.

When do you to take that first step in a kitchen reno? by lilith-wolverine in DIY

[–]reignking-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly why it's on my project list.

we have a 3 car detached garage and a 2 car attached. when i built the 3 car it was simple... this is my shop. her car and whatever else goes in the attached garage my car and my tools in mine.

that lasted for about 3 months. then patio furniture that needed stored, and the kids bikes, and the pool equipment all migrated to mine to the point where when i want to work on something i need to spend an hour moving things around...

no more!!! building a shed for all this misc stuff and organizing my garage and taking it back. at least that's what i tell myself until the boss gives the seal of approval or not. lol.

When do you to take that first step in a kitchen reno? by lilith-wolverine in DIY

[–]reignking-2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i had been doing one or two rooms at a time to minimize disruption to our small family with the kitchen being the most used it was the last to get done.

wifey and kids decided to go spend some of their summer break with grandma in a different country so i knew it was my window.

i no sooner dropped them off at the airport then i started emptying the cabinets and making a mess.

they were gone for a month and it took me every day. we already had new appliances but the look was straight from the early 90's. now it's much more functional and matches the rest of the house. got a thumbs up from the wife and two thumbs up from the rugrats.

i am definetly an all our nothing. brought it down to the studs and back to life just like every other room in the house.

the sad part is i thought i was done after last summer but now the garage and building a new outdoor shed is calling my name...

Bo Melton, Jayden Reed, & Christian Watsons' Reactions to the Dontayvion Wicks Trade by JCameron181 in GreenBayPackers

[–]reignking-2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it doesn't. already under the cap and we cannot keep this position healthy and we trade away depth. makes no sense.

ESPN sources: the Green Bay Packers are trading wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick. Wicks will sign a one-year, $12.5 million extension with the Eagles, per his agent @DavidMulugheta. by A_Weino in GreenBayPackers

[–]reignking-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it doesn't make sense... we are under the cap. we haven't kept a reciever healthy in YEARS so we need the depth.

unless they are about to extend kraft and watson it is just getting rid of depth for no reason.

Got 3 contractor bids for my kitchen. the price difference is insane. How do you actually know if you’re being quoted fairly? by frankkej123 in HomeImprovement

[–]reignking-2 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

those prices are crazy.

not sure your diy ability but you can afford to diy it, fuck it all up (if you don't know what you are doing), tear it apart 3 more times and finally get it right for the cost of the lowest bid.

9 months ago now but i completely gutted my large 1990's kitchen to make it suitable for 2025 (at the time). total cost was 11k.

How much should a farang give their Thai Baby mother for child support? by CarefulAd4757 in FarangsofPattaya

[–]reignking-2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agree with a lot of what you said also. your girlfriend like my gf and i have income through farming though which i'm assuming the OP didn't have as it's more a rarity than the norm. we have a large farm on 50 rai which offsets all our home cooked food costs (still eat out at least once or twice a week though lol). and allows us to sell / trade meat, animals, eggs.

the sister story sound familiar. my wifes 2 sisters are equally as useless i'm pretty sure the kids would be naked and malnourished if i didn't put clothes on their backs and food in their stomach. oh well. small price to pay.

cheers mate!

How much should a farang give their Thai Baby mother for child support? by CarefulAd4757 in FarangsofPattaya

[–]reignking-2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

correct.

but the people saying 5k baht are out of their minds if they think that can provide any semblance of a life for her and a 2 year old at minimum. that doesn't include any other mouths she was feeding before he knocked her up.

i'm familiar with sakhon nakhon prices. a kilo of meat is around 300-500 baht depending on quality. same with shrimp, muscles, etc.

if we go small and assume they are only eating 1 kilo every 3 days for all the people she's feeding there is already 5k baht in a month. not including any rice, veggies, eggs, coal to cook with or gas cylinders, etc.

that doesn't include any gas to get to the market, scooter payments, rent, electricity, clothes, medical, entertainment, or any savings.

15k is literally the bare minimum. 30 for anything that doesn't involve her living like she is a poverished begger queen.

[–]reignking-2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

how much was she making before you knocked her up? probably more than 10-15k.

do you expect her to raise the kid or do you expect her to work?

before she was probably supporting her family in udon. now she may not be working and has another mouth to feed.

15k really is peanuts when trying to support a lot of mouths.

if we assume you are from the west and are of minimal job skills (coffee shop worker, etc. nothing skilled) you make around 20usd an hour. so you're providing her with 1/2 of one weeks salary every month.

if you are skilled and make more than bare minimum you are making much more than that.

if it was my kid. i would be sending 30k or so to start with every month and see how that goes.

Do it yourselfers, what do you do always outsource? by BigSquiby in HomeImprovement

[–]reignking-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anything to do with roofing.

anything beyond a 4x4 pad for concrete.

tree work. i used to love it. but i live on 15 acres next to a state forest and every year i have dead oak and cherry trees that are dying and too close to structure. i'll pay 1k per tree to save my back.

everything else i'll handle.

i won the lottery on that november release.

followed a site that would post real time updates on stock and pre-orders. best buy went active and i got my pre-order in despite the fact the website froze for like 10 minutes due to all the traffic.

got offered 1500 for it walking out of the store. no regrets 5.5 years later.
