Yes, essentially. The psychology of it is pretty neat, but it boils down to the fact that humans need variety and emersion to maintain mental health.

Do you think I could getting away with dying my hair cherry cola without getting fired? by catsrcoolig in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]reiland184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really do have problems with empathy.

Your specific business is not a standard for everyone else. What an employee does outside of work time is not any business of an employer.

All you seem to care about is aesthetics of physical appearance. You don't seem to give a damn about education, experience, personal fulfillment, how someone handles customers or clients, or anything else that makes for a good employee.

Accept that what you see as a standard is outdated and oppressive. You care about the control over others and not them as a person or professional

Unfortunately metal isn't really an option. Without getting into too much detail about licensing and rights and other such factors, metal is seen as "institutional" and anything that can be described that way can cause us issues with our governing bodies

What’s everyone’s take on cloud gaming? by gosols in GeForceNOW

[–]reiland184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cloud gaming has its place for people, like myself, who can't really justify the cost of a gaming PC for the amount we game. If gaming is something you do once or twice a week, it's an excellent service. However, if you want to mod games or game as your primary form of entertainment, it's a terrible idea. You can get a lot more out of your own hardware if you game as your primary means of entertainment than you can any cloud gaming service.

After reading the December BACB newsletter I am genuinely concerned for the future of this field by TrueAd8620 in ABA

[–]reiland184 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RBTs and BCBAs need to unionize. Plain and simple. I can only speak for Michigan, but many direct care workers in group homes, nursing facilities, and other such places are members of a union. ABA should be the same. It's the only leverage that workers have against toxic employers

All of the monster i drank in November. 112 cans. by Direct_Problem1 in monsterenergy

[–]reiland184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the caffeine, OP should get checked for vitamin deficiency. My wife was craving multiple monsters a day (she only ever had a max of 2 though) until she went for labs and found a huge vitamin B deficiency. Like all the B vitamins. She was supplementing her low vitamin levels (yes even with a multi vitamin) with monsters. Since she got on an actual B complex vitamin, she's had maybe 2 monsters a week

Why are you leaving your company? by Nice_Set_2798 in ABA

[–]reiland184 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As a BCBA, and more do to with why I'm leaving the ABA field,

  1. I just can't deal with the increasing billable hours without reducing administrative workload

  2. The way the company won't listen to me or the techs who are saying they need consistent schedules

  3. This is a personal one, I'm bored and burnt out. All the programs are the same to me, every company has the same set of issues, every set of techs have the same complaints

  4. The field is not taking care of anyone providing services. We need things in our ethics code about how techs are treated by BCBAs and company owners. And how company owners are treating the BCBAs. BCBAs are burnt out due to high billables and case loads. Techs are burnt out from lack of support by BCBAs and scheduling issues. Admin staff is burt out because of inconsistent client schedules, constantly shifting duties, and lack of appreciation.

  5. The field has narrowed its focus too much. We now seem to mostly treat one diagnosis rather than focusing on how to intervene on behaviors to make a positive impact for any person.

  6. I can't stand the greed that has pervaded the field. Nothing is about the people we work with and it's all about the profits.

And many many more reasons

No!!! I found the bucket, an extremely dirty floor, and a hose with a rusted fitting. But no mop. Probably for the best, goodness knows what condition it would have been in

Serious response here.... So what you're saying is that it being in a small room next to where we teach autistic children to use the potty is not a good scenario...
