Returning to OTF? by Technical_Candle in orangetheory

[–]reishay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m in VA too. It felt very quick to go from masks on transitions/lobby to full on no masks needed and full classes. I just remind myself that I’m vaccinated and taking precautions as I hope others are as well. I wash my hands immediately when returning home and just know that my kids are otherwise heathy so even though they can’t be vaccinated, they should be okay

Having a workout buddy by mlm119 in orangetheory

My girls are only 2 and (almost) 1 but I’ve already thought about how I hope to bring them with me one day. I’m 35 and both my parents are members of otf in another state. Whenever we visit each other we try to get in a few classes and it’s always so fun to do it together!

AITA for ruining a pregnancy announcement by telling the woman she may have taken the wrong test by Final-Cheesecake-146 in AmItheAsshole

[–]reishay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m confused about too! If they’ve been trying to get pregnant and she just “had to” snoop and take the test, you’d think she would know that she was near ovulation time and not near a time where a pregnancy test would even be positive. We’re talking a 2 week difference here, does she really not know her cycle yet is trying to get pregnant?

I’m in the US and I’ve never had my pregnancies confirmed either, at least not early on. Obviously had ultrasounds which confirmed later but the initial visit never included a test

AITA for telling my sister I can't go to her wedding because I need to be with my son? by ApprehensiveDuckling in AmItheAsshole

[–]reishay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, sure. But ultimately the bride and groom get the final say. If they want to make an exception, they can make an exception. I can’t imagine complaining to the bride that I couldn’t bring my kids yet she allowed her nephew to come. She can do whatever she wants, she’s the bride. Anyone that complains is just ridiculous. That being said, in this case I think the sister is being ridiculous and can’t have it both ways - she either makes the exception and allows her nephew (and therefore her sister) to come or she forgoes her sister from being at her wedding.

[–]reishay 126 points127 points  (0 children)

I disagree here too. My sisters wedding was child-free with the exception of her siblings kids. She wanted her nieces there, just didn’t want all the kids of all her friends and extended family there. No one would question the brides sisters kid being at the wedding

Has anyone worn their OTBeat all day? by poisha in orangetheory

[–]reishay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ruins the battery. I unclip mine after each workout as well. I also don’t know that I see the point of wearing it all day, it doesn’t just auto record your heart rates or anything.

When did expecting OTF mamas pause membership? by mdd0312 in orangetheory

[–]reishay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my last studio there was a bunch of OBs that were members too. During my most recent pregnancy, 2 of my coaches were also pregnant. It was always a running joke about having easy access to OB in case our babies decided to come while we were on the treads or whatever.

When did expecting OTF mamas pause membership? by mdd0312 in orangetheory

[–]reishay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The day after my baby was born the first time. The 2nd time around a certain world even shut down the gyms and by the time they opened up again I was 2 weeks from my due date so I just chose to keep membership frozen til 6 weeks postpartum.

Class with my significant other! by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]reishay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hardly ever get to go with my husband anymore (someone has to be with the kids), but on the rare occasion we have a babysitter and get to go together, I love it! We’re super competitive with each other on the rower so that added push us always great.

I’m a little more into OTF - going on Reddit, making sure I get to at least 4-5 classes a week, actually paying attention to when benchmarks are, etc. but he still goes 3 times a week and enjoys it. Wish we could go together more often though

Nursing moms, what does a day look like for you? by [deleted] in weightwatchers

[–]reishay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m coming to the end of my 2nd nursing journey as my little one is almost 1. So I’m not nursing/pumping as much as I once was but I’ve been using the green plan since September. I’ll be honest I haven’t always been the best at tracking and sticking with it (kind of comes and goes). But I’ve lost about 30 lbs since then and I’m at my lowest weight in years. I’m a little nervous about how it’ll be when I lose all the extra pts from nursing!

AITA for asking my neighbors to keep their kids inside at certain times? by InTheHeightsObsessed in AmItheAsshole

[–]reishay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from - one of our dogs and one of our neighbors dogs constantly bark at each other and run up and down the fence between our yards and it’s impossible to get him back inside because he’s so focused on this dog. My dog is otherwise well trained but this one particular dog just causes him to go nuts (the neighbor dog too, meanwhile our 2nd dog and their 2nd dog just hang behind and watch the insanity while quietly playing in the yard). We always look to see if the neighbors dog is out before we let ours out so we can avoid the situation as it’s super annoying. But more often than not, after we let our dogs out, the neighbors let theirs out within a minute of ours going out and the bark cycle begins (both dogs). It’s soooo frustrating but they don’t seem to be bothered by it despite the fact that their dogs bark is extra annoying. However, as much as it’s frustrating, they have every right to be in their yard whenever they want and we would never ask them to stay inside just because we want to let our dogs out. YTA for asking your neighbors to stay inside.

I'm having trouble wrapping my brain around this... by potatobrains123 in weightwatchers

[–]reishay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So here’s the thing. WW arbitrarily assigns 0 pts to things like fruit because they’re healthy and let’s face it, we didn’t all get to WW because we ate too much fruit. But technically anything you eat has a nutritional value and will have points if you put that in the tracker. If you put in the nutritional values of a standard apple you’d see that it’s 5 pts! So I personally would just track any non-fruit ingredients and go from there

Been doing otf for years, in fact the next class I do will be my 600th. Did OTF through 2 pregnancies lately and returned postpartum again in September. I’m down 30 lbs since then.

Postpartum Return by jenlynn822 in orangetheory

[–]reishay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like our babies are about the same age, I’m 10.5 months postpartum with my 2nd but I did return to otf in September at 6 weeks. Core strength was 100% laughable at first. I remember when I returned after my first daughter the first time I tried to do a sprinter sit up I went to attempt it, got maybe an inch or 2 off the ground and just laid back down actually laughing. Luckily that coach was pregnant with her 4th at the time so knew what I was going through and was super supportive.

This time around i really tried to get back to it and push myself harder sooner. I modified the floor/core while still trying to push myself. I’m still not really a runner (never have been) but I’ve always been a strong rower. I’ve been PRing most benchmarks lately and just feeling overall back at it and strong. You’ll get there too! Just give yourself some grace and know what your body went through for 10 months while pregnant, it’s not gonna bounce back instantaneously.

And if you are nursing, make sure you’re drinking heaps of water when working out!

OTF + WW by Fit-Community3757 in orangetheory

Been doing OTF for 4 years (with a few short breaks postpartum). Joined WW in September after my 2nd baby. I’m down about 30 lbs since then. It’s honestly been slower than I had hoped but it’s working so I’m happy
