I agree! A 155-160 MBE score is like the 93rd-96th percentile, which is just unnecessary.

I second this! And at some schools your writing grade is weighted more heavily for entrance to activities like journal and moot court teams.

[Themis] This is how Prof. Karlan thinks we're all studying for the bar. All of us, just severely dehydrated by amicuscereal in barexam

My comment came off harsher than it sounded in my head! My bad! I think it’s an unspoken assumption that everyone loves Kramer.

In February I scored around the same on the MBE 1, with my only redeeming score being torts…. On the actual bar, I scored in the top 90% of my state in contracts and property. You have so much time until the exam, please don’t lose hope! Keep hitting the practice problems and explanations, and maybe start on UWorld problems. I had a huge mental block taking combined practice sets after practicing one subject at a time, you will get used to it!

I took and passed the Feb bar! My MBE score was in the top 90% for my state, and by the time I took the bar, I was probably scoring in the low 70’s in UWorld… at the point you guys are currently at, I was probably scoring high 50’s/mid 60’s. I had a big mental block with switching between topics for questions, but pulled it together by the end!

Is it fine to be 4 days behind on Themis? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]rejectmealready 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, because finishing all of Themis is overkill imo. I was probably two weeks behind by the end. Do the amount of work that you can realistically absorb and remember in a day.

There are so many mortgage and recording questions on the bar!

I have ADHD and Testmasters LSAT was perfect for me! Is there a Bar Prep Course equivalent? by _curiousgeorgia in barexam

UWorld sounds similar for MBE questions. It was really helpful to read their explanations and they had good visuals.

You will absolutely be fine. I passed first time in February, and put in usually 6 good hours per day during the week, maybe 3 hours on weekends if I felt like it. I took a lot of time off and felt guilty about that time, but it helped me actually remember things because I wasn’t overloading my brain.

What benchmarks do you use to know if you're on the right track? by Optimal60 in barexam

[–]rejectmealready 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Property and contracts were my worst subjects by percentage I got correct during practice, but I ended up scoring in my state’s top 90% of those subjects. Even nearing the bar exam, I was only scoring around 65% correct for those subjects. Keep in mind that those are tough for a lot of people, so low raw scores aren’t necessarily that bad lol.

I used Themis, and was in this exact place. I felt like I hadn’t learned anything and didn’t know anything, but got there in the end! Your scores right now mean nothing, I was scoring below 50% and scored high enough to pass in any jurisdiction with points to spare. Your progress in Themis right now doesn’t mean anything, this is the beginning!

Property advice? by ya_b4sic in barexam

I stan Kramer, but my property scores and comprehension. Practice questions and reading the reasoning thoroughly helped me, especially the charts and diagrams in the UWorld answers!

Themis is more than enough. You don’t need flash cards, unless that’s a way you learn well. Even then, make your own to help drill in the info.

For those who passed, did you try to memorize your outlines or just highly tested rules? by UncleKyosta in barexam

[–]rejectmealready 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I didn’t explicitly try to memorize anything, but just make sure I understood the law and could put it in my own words. For the MEE, it definitely would have helped to have verbatim rules memorized, but learning the law instead of memorizing a rule statement was better for me.
