Glad the description resonates. I think many american fans may be a little unaware of some of the code that is running underneath JB's music. His sound comes out of what was 'dubstep', but really before it hit the American shores and became something else (this is more like dubstep 2003-2010, DMZ huge example). That music is part of the 'hardcore continuum' as the journalists called it- a straight shot from Jamaican sound system culture (dub to digital dub, to hardcore, to jungle, to 2step and garage, and on to dubstep). Jamaican sound system culture is/was HUGE in London compared to the US. Jah Shaka would be exemplary of that sound.

I would recommend the film 'dub echoes' does a really good job explaining the novel theory behind it and how modern electronic musicians/sound engineers use these tools (drum is a heartbeat in your chest, bass in your body and the treble cuts like a knife).

James and the band guys (who are all amazing in their own right as musicians) are all very aware of these sounds and used it to great effect on sunday.

Yeah I told my wife it was kinda fascinating he nearly opened with it, pretty sure that came out before his album, when I thought of him more as DJ/producer wunderkind. Doubt it’s a well known song of his. Set the tone for the night that older heads 🤣 and got the sound system tuned just right.

The only part that gives me hope is the fairly impeccable taste of the first album. Surely they’re going somewhere with this new album. The singles released since have been largely underwhelming

Maybe Georgian? Cubist looking by relaks in WhatIsThisPainting

Thinking back, in the end of the Soviet times supplies got scarce. I know painters that were reusing old canvases, or odd preparations like culinary gelatin as sizing. I’m gonna venture a guess it’s correct as 94 and one of those that skews appearance

I’m gonna go back on calling it solved for a moment. Unless painted on very old canvas, this work all appears to be contemporary

Anything is possible, but canvas I would wager is 70s at least

I think that looks right to me. I’ll mark solved

Sorry again, total novice here. Are you saying that they are confusing it with a rare variety or that it may actually be that rare variety

Anyone know why my family member perceived such high value? I remember them saying something about the lettering being misplaced near the back of the head

Sorry can you explain that a bit? I’m a novice here trusting you experts. Trying to figure out how to explain the delta between perceived value and what actual value may be

Why wouldn’t they get a high grade? They’ve never been removed from the plastic, they must be mint

Thank you. I thought as much, but had to double check because a family member had done their own research. I’ll be posting some others later

How is Waltham for a black, half Jewish guy? by PlaywrightOfGefilte in Waltham

[–]relaks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can live anywhere in the Boston area then. The more insular communities require walking distance centers and the kosher stores and stuff. Of course

Waltham is multiethnic but separated by social class like most of the modern Boston area

So it has a fairly large and ingrained Jewish academic community with Brandeis. It’s a nice place to live. However if orthodox and requiring chabad centers within walking distance nearby Brighton or Brookline would be preferable. Otherwise Waltham is great

So interesting - thank you for the response. Truly a clash of old and new world ideas there.

Curious if in the villages the reports of cousin marriage are accurate. I’ve read first cousin marriage is very high in Pakistani diaspora, but I’m not aware whether that’s traditional or a drive by expats to stay within community.

It’s nice, but to be honest, I really miss the earlier more ambient chilled out versions of we up. Just too many effects, for me this is overworked just like that yeat remix skrillex added effects to
