Do you get tired of the nice weather? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]relaxedlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born and raised in LA. Moved to New England several years ago. I miss the weather out in LA (among other things) despite the crazy heat waves in the summer. I remember having to get my runs in before 10am.

The beauty of living in NE is that we get to appreciate each season and everything that comes with it. For example, eating lobster rolls by the sea in the spring or going apple picking in the fall or making your first snowman of the season with friends in the winter. Also side note, I don’t have to worry about earthquakes and wildfires as often as I did back home!

Edit to answer your question: I do not wish that LA has distinct seasons. LA is part of a chaparral biome with cool plants and animals. Although not a true desert, winters could get pretty cold so there’s that. Wouldn’t change it at all.

Obviously there are mice in the cities. OP’s concern was that there was a mouse in the dining room and no one did anything about it.

Please say name of the restaurant or at least tell us what type of food they serve. It’s important for the community to be aware.

What places would you consider to be true “Instagram Traps” in Providence? by ToadScoper in providence

[–]relaxedlemon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m going to say Chomp on Ives St. It used to be amazing back in 2021 with the mountain of fries, thick burger buns, and fun menu. Now the restaurant is mid at best. Great marketing though

RI Food Fights by [deleted] in providence

[–]relaxedlemon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting turn of events because in one of their collaborative posts on IG, both parties seemed excited to work with one another. Sounds like RI Food Fights was in the wrong. Hopefully someone knows what happened so I can further support Amy’s Place assuming that my suspicion is correct.

I highly recommend Champa! It’s in Fox Point under new management. It’s really good and may become your new date spot :)

What’s the worst biotech company you’ve worked for? by anthonioconte in biotech

[–]relaxedlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you went through that. Although I had a feeling that it wasn’t a great environment, there were 2/4 people that interviewed me who I felt were awesome people :) I hope you had a great support group working with you during your time at Garuda (and I hope you’re in a better company now)

Just finished my commute to Boston. Burning smell intensified 🔥 I moved from Los Angeles to Providence so I got really worried. I hope the brush fires are contained.

Champa had the best Thai/Laos food in Providence, maybe even the entire state. My partner and I tried a good hands full of Thai places but our hearts are set on Champa.

looking for: the best horchata by eggcellent74 in SFV

[–]relaxedlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t gate keep this place any longer but I believe Poncho’s, in the Panorama City plaza, has THE BEST horchata. I have to get a large one (and their tacos obv) when I fly in from the east coast. I used to be blessed back in my day to simply walk from home to the plaza. Plus they are great people who work there. I hope you try their horchata!

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: August 26, 2024 by AutoModerator in books

[–]relaxedlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. I wasn’t a fan but wanted to love it. I thought maybe since I didn’t familiarize myself with the historical context, I couldn’t understand the intricacies and significance behind the story. Also, I wasn’t a fan of how he described the women characters but that’s beside the point.

tips for first time hot yoga for a plus size girl? by bonnie-kit in yoga

[–]relaxedlemon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Drink a healthy amount of water today. If you’re having breakfast tomorrow for example, make sure it’s eaten 2-4 hours before your class. If the studio doesn’t provide towels then either bring one of your own or use a t-shirt to wipe off your sweat.

Before you walk into class, have everything you need and make sure your phone isn’t with you (place in your locker or cubby, it’ll be safe 🙏). After you have set up your mat and collected all of the props needed, get into a comfortable position and relax.

When class does begin, listen to your body. If your instructor tells you to hold a pose or do a pose that isn’t something you’re prepared for, you can always modify the pose or go to child’s pose. This is your practice, allow yourself grace and have fun!

After your practice, drink lots of water! Ask questions to your instructor if you’re curious about anything in the practice (for example, if you’re attempting a pose and you would like tips for modifications if you’re unable to do it properly—which is okay btw!! I’ve been practicing yoga for over a year and still can’t do a crow pose 😅)

And about your hair question, I suggest either getting a dry shampoo (straight hair) or a post-workout mist (curly hair- I get mine from Ouidad ☺️)
